Welcoming Our New Design Team!

Now it's time to say goodbye to some of our Master Forgers and say HI to some new Design Team Members.

We are sad to say goodbye to some friends.  We have loved having AndreaJenniferLibeetiLisa J., and Rebecca!  Thank you for all of your hard work and wonderful creativity!  We will be keeping our collective eyes on you!

We are thrilled to welcome back

And now please say...

to our new Design Team...the Master Forgers of the Counterfeit Kit Challenge!

Hey There! My name is Ashley Spiller. I am so super excited to be a Master Forger here at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge. I am married to my high school sweetheart, I work full time and love to cook giant dinners. I am also a very silly or so I have been told! When I am not working or cooking you can find me scrapping. I call myself a "chaotic scrapper" because I can make a mess....a BIG mess.  To see my mess and some of the layouts that result from said mess check out my blog- Paper for People.

I choose Mist (and a wood veneer) as my scrappy item(s) that best represent me. About 6 months ago I refused to try mists because it always looked "weird" on my pages. But now (almost) no page is complete until I have inked, splattered, spotted or misted it!! As for the wood veneer well....I collect them!!

Hi my name is Dawn and I live in Clever, Missouri a darling little town in SW Missouri.  And I LOVE my patterned paper.  The particular collection I'm holding is Allison Kreft for Webster's Paper.  I LOVE that designers are now teaming up with these fabulous companies to make splendid lines.  Some of my favorites are Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper, Amy Tan for American Crafts and anything Heidi Swapp.  There is something about the colors and patterns that just make me want to grab a photo and create something pretty =).  I am so excited to be on the Counterfeit Kit Club DT.  I am looking so forward to working with this amazing group of lovely ladies.  Please visit me at my blog www.dawnsscrapbookcottage.blogspot.com for more fun and inspiration ~~ Blessings ~~

Hey everyone! My name is Stephanie and I live in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. I have been scrapbooking for 10+ years and I love how this hobby allows me to document my family's memories in such a unique, creative way. I am so excited and honoured to be part of the Counterfeit team, and I hope my monthly contributions inspire you to put your stash to good use. My favorite scrappy product are mists and spray inks. I've accumulated quite the collection and I love how versatile they are. I used to be sooo afraid to use them because I was terrified of making a mistake, but then I realized that mistakes are part of the creative process."When in doubt, ink it" is now my scrapping motto and I think that captures my approach to life as well. We should never be afraid to take chances and get our hands dirty. You can read more about my messy creative endeavours over on my blog, Skyline Paperie.

Delighted to meet you - Lesley(G) here.
My husband (Nick) of 18 years and my 14 year old daughter, Imogen are very understanding when it comes to my scrapbooking and they always take a great interest in my creations.
Luckily for me, Imogen loves being creative too and I enjoy nothing more than spending a day chatting and scrapping with her at the dining table.
If you care to hop over to  http://ohblogitifyoucantbeatthem.blogspot.co.uk/ you can find out more about me.
My favourite "scrappy" item (at the moment!) has to be Washi Tape, it is so versatile and colourful.
and also one thing that I just can't resist buying
so I don't think I will ever use up my massive collection.
Go on, show me yours...

Hi, I’m Leslie from just outside of Flint, Michigan, USA. My childhood sweetheart & I share our little acre with our grand-dog Lila & our cantankerous cat, Captain Hook. Retirement is looming and with 3 grandbabies to spoil & enjoy it should be sweet :~)
With all of the marvelous products available to us today I am convinced that none is more essential than patterned paper.  It can be torn, cut, pinned, pasted, stapled, stamped, painted, inked, folded, spindled & mutilated – well, you get the idea! It comes in an infinite variety of patterns, colors, textures & themes. My motto? “Let the Patterned Paper Do the Work!” I can’t seem to get enough of the stuff, and joining in here at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge has helped me to rescue some of my orphan papers from the back of the bin & to fall in love with them all over again.  Head on over to MY BLOG to see what I have been creating!

Hello fellow forgers, I’m Julene Matthews from Sydney Australia. I’m so excited to be part of Counterfeit Kits Design Team. My very busy blog is http://julenebydesign.blogspot.com .I also run http://archiscraps.blogspot.com ,a challenge site based on architecture.
Choosing one item is difficult. I’m never without double sided tape, Fiskars scissors and a ruler. However I guess the item that best describes me would be alphas. My world is books and letters. I’m a teacher-librarian, and it flows over into my scrapping. I’m often choosing a title or labels as I scrap.
Being a Virgo I’m precise, organised and practical.

So much talent in one blog!  It is going to be a great 2nd term!

June Member Blog Hop

Welcome to one of our favorite days of the month!  Hop Day!

One of the things I love the most about doing Counterfeit Kit Challenge is all of the wonderful inspiration we provide for each other.

This month's hop inspiration comes from your local Farmer's Market.  We have 3 where we live...all open in different days.  It is such a great way to get my kiddos to actually try some new fruits or vegetables.

Inspired?... You will be!

I'm am all over the washi tape right now. How about you?

I love the fact that its relatively inexpensive, it goes a LONG way, it come in all widths and sizes and is the perfect finishing touch on many a layout or embellishment cluster.

Here are some I've discovered online. Maybe I need to work out how to make a really good counterfeit of them.... mmmm... food for thought.

These are just about the prettiest little hearts I've ever seen! I really think I need these. Found in a new (to me) online shop which appears to be full of pretty tapes and gorgeous flairs.

Available at Finding Nana
Following the geometric trend, I really like the design and colour combination of these.

Available at Finding Nana

I have a "thing" for anything like airmail or airmail stripes so this caught my eye right away.

Available at Two Peas In A Bucket

And not only the adorable cameras here but also an on trend grey chevron - who could resist?

Available at Two Peas In A Bucket

More pretty cameras but I especially love the bright yellow tape. I've been looking for some in a true yellow so this is right up my street.

Available at Scrapbook.com

Dates and days are always useful. This Doodlebug tape would be so good to have.

Available at Scrapbook.com

And last but not least, this tape for the delightful whale dispenser! Love it!

Happy taping everyone!

June Challenge 3: Ice Cream Challenge

 all the ice cream

Don't tell my friends who own a very cool Frozen Yogurt Shop (The Pink Walrus), but I LOVE ice cream.  I am up for any bizarre type of flavor.  Try me.  Maybe I'll like it.  Right now my flavor of choice is chocolate with a swirl of peanut butter.  Not exotic, but SOOOO yummy!

Challenge #3: Ice Cream Challenge:  Get inspired by your favorite ice cream flavor or brand.

Am I making you hungry yet?

Check out Angela's blog to find out what yumminess inspired this incredible art journal page.

Hey...I can make THAT!

June Tutorials

Welcome to "Hey...I can make THAT!"  A monthly post to help you truly counterfeit many of the components of the current month's kit.  No need to go out and purchase...just use the supplies you already have to create some of the freshest and trendiest products out there.  Here you will find links to our amazing design team members' blogs and/or links to other craft sites on the web showing how to make these amazing products.

This month's inspiration kits and add-ons from Scraptastic Club offer a ton of opportunities to counterfeit.  Here's a refresher on our inspiration:

May 2013 After the Storm Kit

May 2013 Destination Unknown Add-OnMay 2013 Destination Unknown Kit

To get the whole low down on this month's kits, be sure to visit the June Kit Reveal post here, but for those of you who are ready to get down and dirty, let's get started!

DIY Enamel Dots

First up, we have those very popular (and a bit pricey) Basic Grey enamel dots as shown in the "After the Storm" Add-on kit.  I recently purchased that exact pack and paid $4.00.  What was I thinking?  The following link is a great resource for making your own using nail polish and floral lustre gems.  I tried this one out for myself and it worked beautifully (as shown above).  I couldn't find the clear gems at Michael's, but did find them in the floral department of AC Moore.  The 16 oz. package (which seems to contain hundreds, if not a thousand gems) cost $9.99 and I used a 40% off coupon.  I had plenty of nail polish on hand and wouldn't mind purchasing a few new colors for my gems AND my toes!  Only downside is that they are all the same size, but with this kind of cost savings, I think I can live with that.  Be sure to check it out here:  DIY Enamel Dots

Digital Word Stickers

Angela, our Digi Master Forger extraordinaire, has a fabulous tutorial for making word stickers with digital stamps and address labels from the stationers.  You certainly could use these to mimic those Echo Park tags in the Destination main kit.  Check out Angela's blog for all the details.

Bokeh-Style Papers
(pronounced like the word bouquet...learn something new everyday!)

Sherri, our featured guest designer this month, counterfeited the bokeh-style papers from Lily Bee that you see in the "After the Storm" kit.  She achieved these awesome results by following this bokeh tutorial from Lawn Fawn.

Here's what Sherri had to say about her process:  I tried just circles the first time, like the Kite Strings paper, and it came out great. I wanted to try the Gumball, too.  When I looked for a heart stamp in my stash, however, I found that my hearts, when flipped over, really didn't look like hearts anymore.  So, I punched a tiny heart from cardstock, then used the negative as a mask.  I just stamped over the heart with the circle stamp that I had been using.  It worked great!

Shapes, Die Cuts and Clusters...Oh My!

Milissa, one of our Master Forgers, has a smorgasbord of mini-tutorials posted.
Milissa M.
She will show you how to mimic the Jillibean Soup Corrugated Sunshine shapes, recreate the Scraptastic Hello Sunshine Diecut, and, just for fun, how to use your scraps up to make some homemade embellishment clusters!

So, these projects should keep you busy for a while!  Hope they help you complete your kit for the month.  Leave us a comment and post over to June Mr. Linky so we can applaud all of your creations!

See...you certainly CAN make THAT!

June Challenge 1: Farmer's Market Challenge

When I was a kid, there was a Farmer's Market pretty close to my house.  I loved the family feel of seeing the same vendors every week...get your meat from the people who had sold to your parents over the years...trying a sample of some produce you have never had before to see if you liked it.  It is my goal to take the kids to some local Farmer's Markets over the summer.  I know they will love it.

Challenge #1:  Farmer's Market Challenge: Get inspired by the displays, colors, textures, produce and over all feel of the place.

June Kit, Guest Designer and MORE!

It is a beautiful day in my neighborhood!  Today my kids are HOME FOR THE SUMMER!  Yep.  I yelled it.  I yelled it because I actually like my kids.  LOL  Collin (10) and Isabel (8) are fun, engaging, loving and very bright.  We are going to have a GREAT summer!

Part of that great summer will be scrapbooking with my girl.  Isabel has all of her own stash and her very own spot.  And yes, she even owns a Cricut (thanks grandma!).

So, let's get down to to it so Isabel and I can get scrapping!

First of all, we loved Little Blue Button Stamps so much that they are back for June!

Olga has some fun planned for us on the 12th, so make sure to keep watching!  And stop by and follow her BLOG and like her FACEBOOK to say thanks!

Ready to squeal like a girl?  Our guest designer this month is our wonderful former Design Team member...Sherri Thompson!!!  We are VERY excited to steal Sherri for the month.  I'm still trying to convince her that she totally has time to come back to the Design Team.  LOL
