April Fool's Day Winner!

Wasn't the True or False portion of our blog hop fun?  I had NO idea some of the answers to that!  We all lead such fascinating lives!

Here are the correct answers, but remember that ANY answer got entered into our drawing (one entry for each blog you guessed on).

And the INCORRECT answers are:

Guest Designer Maggie: #1 to mark my 40th birthday I had a small butterfly tattooed above my right ankle

Bethany:  #1: I met my husband on a trip to Africa. (We actually met in Puerto Rico...and didn't like each other at first.)

Stephanie:  #2 My favorite subjects in high school were biology and science (my favorite subjects were actually history and English literature

Lynnette: #2 I won a trip to St. Lucia.

Lisa:  #1 I have lived in four different countries NOT three.

Leslie: #1 I did not win a baton twirling competition - I am a total klutz & would have hurt myself, lol!

Lesley: #3 My middle name is not Jane.

Julene: #3 I get seasick.

Jemma: #3 I got to know my husband ballroom dancing not ice-skating.

Angela: #2 too many pairs of shoes (I actually have a hard time finding shoes that fit so quiet often don't have anything suitable.)

True Random Number Generator  81Powered by RANDOM.ORG
#81...which is...LESLEY G.

Congratulations, Lesley!  Make sure you get me your address.

We have a bit of OTHER great news as well!

Drumroll please...

We are having a National Scrapbooking Event!

Challenge #3: BIG TITLES

One of my favorite things to do when I tuck myself in for bed is spend a bit of time on my Kindle Fire looking through crafting blogs (scrapbooking, cards, sewing, embroidery).  It is relaxing to me and a time when I get my best ideas.  Blog lovin' has been perfect for me.  I can skim of blog excerpts and just look at the ones I really want.  I can "save" my favorites by liking them, which is what I do with any blogs that spark an idea for the CKC blog.

One blog post that caught my eye in February was this post by October Afternoon:
Monday Challenge: Big Titles

Alex's layout immediately caught my eye..the title is wonderful (love the font) and the bits around the title really draw your attention to it.  Aha!  Challenge time!

Challenge #3: BIG TITLES:  Use a big title (or extra large sentiment) on your crafty project!

Now onto some inspiration!

LesleyG is using the BIG title to avoid journalling!

Leslie S made a play on words with her title

Stephanie used an extra long title on her layout

Keeping your stash at bay..

I don't know about you, but I have SO much stuff...and, although it is well organized, my stash just keeps on growing.  If YOU have more stuff then you will ever be able to use, maybe you could make a kiddo happy and make a special kit just for them!  You use up stash...they get to be creative...it is a win/win!

Now even if you don't have littles of your own, why don't you try making a kit for someone in a retirement home...a special relative...a crafty neighbor.

Master Forger Angela has some particularly craft littles in her house.  I love seeing what they come up with!

Here is a kit she pulled for her daughter:

You can see more about this project on Angela's Blog.

My girl has been itching for her own card kits, so I was happy to oblige.  She loves a good card challenge and was super excited to see enamel dots and wood veneer in her kit.  Yes, I love her that much.

We would love to see some crafty kits you put together for someone else!  Let's share the crafty love!

Challenge #2: Pocket Page Inspiration

This year I have been giving pocket scrapbooking a try.  My time to craft has become so limited and while I create for the fun of it, I am falling farther and farther behind in documenting things for my kids.  I want to find a good balance between being caught up and being creative and this might work for me.  My plan is to keep up by using a monthly process to document our photos, but also to add in 12 x 12 layouts for some of the photos that need a more creative touch.  Plus, those 3x4 and 4x6 cards are perfect for cards and layering on regular layouts.  Win-Win!

Challenge #2: Pocket Page Inspiration:  Use a 3x4 or 4x6 card (does not have to be a pocket scrapbooking card, can be cut down from your own paper) on your next project.  Use it as the sentiment on a card or as a layering element on your layout.  You can also bind a bunch to make a mini album!

Now I know, if you are not into that type of scrapbooking you might be grumbling a bit, but really, give it a try!  Making those cards can be REALLY fun (as fun a making a layout!).   I recently did a "kit swap" (we made kits for another person and some of the elements had to be handmade) on Facebook and made a Pocket Page style kit for a new friend.  I made several of the cards in the photo below...I think I am addicted now!

Here is another card that I made using a mask and gold mist.  I can't wait to use this on a travel page!

Feeling a little braver now?  Let's see what our Master Forgers did for us for this challenge.  I'm ready to be inspired!

Here is Guest Designer Maggie's take on the challenge (I LOVE the red chevron!)
You can read more about it on her blog.

LesleyG is very apologetic for the late entry and blames a time warp HERE

I also had a bit of fun with an easy Pock Card Project!
Feel free to head over to MY BLOG to see more about it.
