LAURA (Beads, Buttons and Birds)
We loved her interpretation of the kit she found. She pulled together a really great color palette. Her challenge scared me a bit...I'm not a big eyelet fan, but I do own some and she inspired me to find ways to like them again (I bought them for a reason, right?)
Laura will be
In the Month of October:
1. Picking the kit for us to Counterfeit
2. Choosing all 3 of our challenges
3. Performing her duties as Guest Designer for the month!

August Challenge #3: Vellum Challenge
When my kids were little, I would add all sorts of veggies to the things they ate. In a very sneaky sort of way. Now, they will eat pretty much anything...no fear. I would like to think that was all me, but it probably wasn't. Now I want to sneak you a bit of something you might not love...No Fear, remember!!
Challenge #3: Vellum Challenge: Use Vellum on your project.
Yep...Vellum. I think we all (unless you are a super purger) have a bit hanging around in your craft space some where. I know you can find a way to sneak it in...
Need some ideas? What else are we here for?
Lynnette used this gorgeous gold polka dot vellum that was sent to her all the way from Germany (wink, wink...Lisa!) Read more on her blog here.
Stephanie actually loves working with vellum and used a sheet on the layout below. Can you see it? It's tucked underneath something else. You can see close-ups and read the journaling on her blog.

August Challenge #2: Sketch Challenge
Sometimes it is nice to sit back and relax and not have to think so hard! So how about a Sketch Challenge?
Challenge #2: Use This Sketch from October Afternoon to take a bit of a crafting break. Maybe stretch a bit by NOT using it for a card?
Now for the brilliant projects from our Master Forgers...hit it, ladies!
Jemma has rotated the sketch and had fun with a chevron punch borrowed from Lesley!

Susanne has used the top 3/4 of the sketch, and used diagonal paper as well as chevron stickers.
Julene has made a cool card for a teen
LesleyG stuck to the sketch and used her stamps and homemade stencil to
create parts of the layout...
Angela kept her page rectangle, but flipped it round to make her page landscape.
Leslie both squished & stretched with a little added banner cluster.
Okay! Your turn, and make sure to post on Mr. Linky so we
can all enjoy your wonderful creative take on the sketch!

Hey...I Can Make That!
CKC August Tutorials
Welcome to "Hey...I can make THAT!"
A
monthly post to help you truly counterfeit many of the components of
the current month's kit. No need to go out and purchase...just use the
supplies you already have to create some of the freshest and trendiest
products out there. Here you will find links to our amazing design team
members' blogs and/or links to other craft sites on the web showing how
to counterfeit these must-have products.
This month our inspiration kit, "Penny Arcade", is brought to you by Studio Calico. This is the main scrapbooking kit, but there is quite an array of additional kits & addons to inspire you even further!
Let's see how you can create some of this scrappy goodness with the help of your Master Forgers.
Leslie S created these super-easy forgeries.
Read more about it HERE.
Julene has counterfeited one of the papers using old alphas
Lynnette had another take on the super happy cloud paper. Take a look here.
Jemma has been counterfeiting Twine + Ink gold puffy stars and circles from the Spun Sugar add-on:
- Apply 2-3 coasts of gold nail polish to cheap children's stickers
- Once dry, remove from the backing sheet, removing excess polish
- Stick to project!
Hope you were inspired. We'll be looking for your fabulous kits on Mr. Linky!

August's Challenge #1: One Layer Challenge
I am a layering kind of girl. I love sweaters and scarves and in my scrapbooking I DREAD mailing flat cards just to save postage. I always feel like the need more of something.
Challenge ON!
Challenge #1: One Layer Challenge: Make a project from your kit using only one layer.
What, you say? What are you talking about?
Take a peek HERE at the Hero Arts Blog...and they have a bit of a contest you can still get in on for this...
Need some ideas? Oh, we have some for you!
Susanne used stamping and a rub-on background for her card with a simple color scheme. See another shot as well as her tips and tricks on her blog.

Guest Designer Sherri says: I love layering embellishments on my cards-buttons, twine, flowers, veneer, lots of chunky goodness! Making a card with just a single layer was a huge challenge for me! I tried to think of techniques that stayed true to my usual card making style while still keeping my card truly one layer. Double-sided patterned paper and its salvage edge, scoring, a die-cut "window", and Stickles all helped me add some fun elements to this one layer card! Visit her blog HERE to find out more!
Lynnette sticks mostly to scrapping. Card making? Not so much. Since she's not actually entering the Hero Arts contest, she bent the rules a bit and created this "almost" one-layer layout. Shhhh! You won't tell, right! LOL!
Leslie had a bit of a false start but ended up with this peekaboo card:

August's Counterfeit Kit and Blog Hop!
Welcome to another great month of being creative and being the keeper of our memories! It is back to school month for us. Remember the good old days where we would think that meant more time to create? LOL Ahhhh...those were the days. I tend to volunteer a bit too heavily (my kids still request it and I want to take advantage of them wanting me around), but hope to make sure I carve out some time for myself this year.
We have a vaguely familiar Master Forger with us this month...what was her name again? Wait...I know this one....Oh, yes!
Hi, everyone! Some of you may remember me as someone who was once a die-hard scrapper and stamper. At one time, I dedicated many hours each week to being creative and working for various manufacturers and design teams. Life throws you some major curveballs sometimes, though, and I found myself with less and less time to be creative. I even took an entire year off without even going into my craft studio. Recently, though, I found myself settling into all of these changes and really MISSING all of the crafty things that I used to enjoy so much. So I pulled out a few supplies (I recently moved and hadn't unpacked any crafty stuff) and made a card. That led to more cards, some tags, and even some layouts! So even when you think your craftiness has packed up and left, don't give up. If it's something you enjoy, do it for you!
For your own crafty pleasure, you can see what Sherri is up to on HER BLOG.
Our kit this month is a special pick of mine. I fell completely in love with it when I saw it and just stopped looking at any other kits. Take a good look at Studio Calico's Penny Arcade. I LOVE the color combinations...that corally/off red is really sweet. They have 3 kits (main kit, card kit, project life kit) as well as add ons, so GO TO TOWN! LOL
So now that you know your assignment, let's check out the great kits our Guest Designer and Master Forgers have put together. Let's give them some love when we head over to their blogs, too!
Order of the Hop:

I would also like to WELCOME BACK Margie as a Master Forger!
Margie graciously put together a kit LAST NIGHT for us so she could play along for this month. Nothing like Speed Kitting to get out of the box, use what you have and pull together a GORGEOUS kit! Here is her kit, but make sure you go to HER BLOG to welcome her back!
**I'm so happy that our Master Forgers enjoy their time here and want to come back. I do think this is a rather nice place to be. Be on the lookout for some surveys that we will have SOON as we now have a full team and have some ideas for how to shake things up and make CKC even better! And we want to hear from YOU!**
