Master Forger's Counterfeit Kits

First, check out our Guest Designer, Lisa's, Counterfeit Kit...

"When I saw the Sweet Peach Crop Shop kit from September 2010, I was thrilled to see pretty papers and a fresh colour palette. This kit was full of products that I loved right away. I think the Indie Girl range is gorgeous but I didn’t have a single sheet of it in my stash and knew I would have to get creative with my choices. Right from the start I decided to try and dig deep into my products and give some older items an airing. I always give myself some kit objectives at the beginning of the month and September will be to use as many of these “vintage” pieces as possible (vintage as in how long they've been sitting on my shelf!)

The gorgeous blues and greens in the inspiration kit were my starting point and I picked out an initial selection, including some fabric paper, which I am pushing myself to find a use for. The original kit had a touch of pink which never fails to make me happy and also one of my favourite papers from recent times featuring gorgeous hearts (Affection) so I picked out a few pinks and softer tones to represent these. I thought I could spy some music paper and knowing how I like to mix in some neutrals with the brighter shades, I picked out a vintage double-sided sheet that will be really useful. Paying homage to the original kit, I also added in a pretty Sassafras sheet that I came across while rummaging. I sorted through the sheets until I had reduced it to 10 and love the mix of brighter, bolder patterns and colours, and softer, more vintage feeling papers. I matched this up with 6 sheets of cardstock in supporting shades.

Moving onto my embellishments I decided to limit myself a little but I always put in a bit more than the original kit as filling the page with stuff is what I do ;-) Again, not having any of the original products from the inspiration kit, I decided to go with the same kind of items as a starting point. An alphabet, some brads, some ribbons, a few flowers, rub-on stitching and some calendar die cuts. And then I added more! A tiny alpha, a handful of pins, some photo corners, a bobbin of baker's twine and some paper trims that have been seriously faded in the sun so they will need some TLC before I can put them to use. Adding in and taking out a few items here and there took less time than usual because the inspiration kit was very much what I love to scrap with and the kit came together really quickly.

When I looked at the kit I'd created I realised it looked bright and fresh, but definitely not high season and the name Departing Summer seemed appropriate.

Then I decided that I needed even more! More embellishments, more letters, more journaling choices. And for the first time an add-on kit, September Notes was born. Again, using the Sweet Peach Crop Shop embellishment add-on as a starting point, I matched alphabets, flowers, die-cuts and some journaling spots before adding shipping tags, some pretty buttons and a bit of bling for good measure!

I am sure that I will be sneaking in one or two items as I go through the month and I always consider inks, stamps and tools as just part of my standard supplies so it's going to be a full and busy month!"
