Trash to Treasure

Well life got in the way this month so let's do something different. YOU tell ME how you use up your SCRAPS! We all have them, how do you use them up? Do you store them, save them, or just recycle them? Do you go ahead and make a card or other project once you are done with one project with them? Inspire me to use my mountain of scraps!

  1. Oh I LOVE using scraps and been going to a blog post on this very topic. I think I'll get that together and posted. I did a little something something with scraps from a calendar project just this morning :). Thanks for the boost :)

  2. I used to store them in a basket. Now, I try to use them up on other projects, such as cards or layouts made from cardstock and just scraps.....for me that is a challenge in itself!

  4. I use my scraps in several different ways.
    1. I will use my scraps to create layouts (i.e. die cut a ton of shapes and use as the background)
    2. Use scraps for the base of mixed media/altered art projects
    3. Use scraps to create my own custom project life title and journal cards
    4. Use them to make my own custom die cut embellishments
    5. Use as in in mini albums

  6. I've been using my scraps to ceate mini tag books. I did one with Valentine quotes and another with daily inspirational/motivational quotes. It was fun.

  7. For the most part my daughter gets the bigger pieces. If I absolutely LOVE the paper I will keep it for cards, mini albums, or altered projects.

  8. I use them on cards and very often on pages. In fact, I just made a page using the last of the tiny scraps left in my October kit. when I put it up on my blog, I'll link it up. I do go through my basket of scraps once a year or so and gift a lot of it to my niece and her kindergarten - kids just love stuff like that don't they?

  9. I'm of no use to you whatsoever - I hoard them! A few of the bigger, better pieces end up back in the color files. Sorry!

  10. I give the larger pieces to a teacher friend of mine for her after school scrapbooking club. I save them up and give them to her once a year.. and the kids send a lovely thank you note.
The smaller pieces I punch shapes from in two or more sizes of the same shape and create layered embellishments.

  11. I run them through the paper shredder to make gift basket filler and pretty packing material.

  12. I use as much as I can on layouts before using the rest on cards before punching out shapes from every last little piece - no waste here :)
