Some Sketchy good news

I was so sad when Allison Davis needed to take a break from posting sketches on her awesome blog, Sketch Support.  I totally agree with her need to do it and feel bad that I was not good at showing  her the love for all the time and inspiration she gave so freely.  I'm glad she is take some time for herself and that she also is keeping the blog up for those who want some great inspiration.

Have you seen her sketches?  We love to use them around here.  There is just so much I really love about them.

1.  They are so easy to use as is...she gives really easy cutting instructions that take the guess work out of it.
2.  They fit ALOT of standard photos.  I don't have to think about how my pictures will work with her sketches...they are so well thought out.
3.  The sketches will work for a variety of themes and holidays.  You really can use them for anything you want to scrapbook.
4.  You can use the same sketch over and over.  With a few tweaks, each sketch can be rotated, changed up and altered so it looks fresh each time you use it.  I often use the same sketch for pages of both of my kids for their albums and love how they turn out.

Now onto the happy news!  Allison is still sketching away (Slow down, girl!  I don't own all of your books, yet!) and has found a new way to share them with us!  (And I don't want to forget Debbie, who is also a sketchy diva around there!)

Go to the Scrapbook Generation Blog to see their great idea!  You can now download their sketches one at a time or in small groups!  Brilliant, I tell you!

Just wanted to share one of my favorite things!  And no, I have no affiliaion with Allison or Scrapbook Generation.  Just a huge fan and lover of really well made sketches.

Challenge #3: Summer Garden Challenge

I LOVE gardens!  Flowers...vegetables...herbs...topiaries...they relax me!  Now, the hard part is that I cannot grow anything.  Or keep it alive.  I have tried...friends have tried to help me.  Everything plant I touch dies.  So I enjoy them in other people's yards and yearn for the day when I can hire a gardener.  LOL

Challenge #3: Summer Garden Challenge:  Find some inspiration in a summer garden for your project!

Challenge #2: Two for one!

One of my tricks to using up more scraps is to make a few cards after I finish a layout.  Since I already have matching supplies out, it is so easy to whip up a few cards without the extra effort of getting out more supplies!

Challenge #2:  Create a layout (one or two pages) and then make a card based on your layout (design and supplies).

Organize This: Week 16: Paints, Glitter and Stickles

It is that time again!  Head on over to My Love Affair with the Label Maker to get your Paint, Glitter and Stickels tamed!

I thought I had mine under control, but I have been rethinking my storage lately.  Here is how I have mine sorted:

Here is my paint...apparently I need to buy some more.  LOL  (More is stored on the other side...best garage sale find ever!  Only 3 for this spinning rack!)

All of my glitters, flock and embossing powders are in this jetmax drawer.

I love this cute little plant cart.  I keeps stickles/mists on it.

Susanne stores her paints in a very fun basket!  I love this idea!

How do you store your stickles, paints and glitter?

Master Forgers Online Challenge!

I think this online challenge thing might be addicting.  LOL  Are you going to give it a try?

Here click on each name to head over to their blogs and see what challenge they picked to do.

Guest Designer:  Lynnette

When I need some thought-provoking, creative inspiration for my scrapbooking, I know I can always turn to Lisa (CKC Master Forger) and Pam’s (Whimsical Nature) weekly challenge blog: www.whimsicalmusingschallenge.blogspot.com. I’ve been participating rather regularly since March and love the mix of their two personalities and their varied and open-ended design and/or journaling-based prompts. This story-focused layout entitled, “Bring Back my Bonnie to Me” was inspired by the “What’s in a Name?” prompt from the week of July 23, 2012 . The journaling traces back the origin of my step-Dad’s nickname and how my siblings and I all found our comfort zone in what to call him. Since we just lost him in December, I’m very pleased to have this story told for all to remember. Without Lisa and Pam’s prompt, I may have never documented it. I believe the photo was taken on the 4th of July, so I thought that fit perfectly with the feel of my “Picnic Parade” kit. And I just love that my Dad is donning a red, white and blue ribbon medallion - he’s like a walking scrapbook embellishment!

Challenge #1: Online Challenge

I tend to be a very insulated scrapper.  I don't go to crops...join in heavily with online communities...or submit my projects anywhere.  I scrapbook for me.  Sometimes it can be inspiring, though to get out of your comfort zone and try something new!

Challenge #1:  Enter an online challenge!  Pick an online challenge (something besides ours...don't be a cheater!) and enter a project for it using your kit!  You can pick a challenge with or without some sort of prize attatched (although prizes are always more fun).

Here are some great sites to find some online challenges:

You can also look at the blogs for your favorite scrapbook companies!  They often host challenges as well!

You can do this!  Let's step out of the box together a bit and share our work!  Don't forget to link up here on Mr. Linky so we can cheer you on!
