Challenge #3: Negative Space

I am all for using up every bit of my scrapbook supplies...pretty patterned paper especially.  When I am tired of using up a sheet, I cut it down into 6x6 for cards, into strips to make borders, and punch things out of the little bits left.

So...how about a challenge to help use up the bits?

Challenge #3:  Negative Space Challenge:  Use the negative space from a punch or chipboard on your project.

Here are some great ideas:

Have fun!

September Card Sketch Inspiration

Twas' several months before Christmas and all through the house...crafters were planning their cards and other goodies and needed some inspiration...and I know this doesn't rhyme at all, but the sentiment stands just the same.  Whew!

For those of us who have not finished our holiday shopping and crafting, here is a great sketch that I think would make some fun Christmas cards.  Replace the heart with a great holiday shape and you can knock these out in no time!

Studio Envy

I am SO lucky to have my own scrapbook room and I know that.  However, if a girl could dream...I would love to have a space outside of the house...away from the distractions and interruptions so I could create.  There is a small house next door that is always being rented out...my husband and I talk frequently about how cool it would be to buy it and then be able to have a great office and scrapbook room where we could get away.

I found this space on 2 Peas...one of my friends has something similar for her quilting...

How awesome is that?

Master Forger Character Challenge

I KNOW this was a tough one, but I hope you give it a try anyway.  It was really fun!

Guest Designer:  Clair

This really was such a challenge. Nothing came to me immediately, so I went through my bookshelves (quite a task in itself) and then I panicked. Just a little. Until I spotted my copy of The Constant Gardener by John Le Carre. The layout reflects the title of the book - using a gardening theme - but it's the journalling that I've hidden away behind the prettiness that is really inspired by one of my favourite characters, Justin Quayle. Justin's 'constant gardening' is his method of problem solving, his very own form of therapy - but constant, also means something that doesn't change, or someone that is always there - and these are qualities that remind me very much of my own dad. And that's why the journalling is squirrelled away - it's a private little tribute to someone very special.

**Margie was inspired to do a card as well!

I hope I see LOTS of links on Mr. Linky for this challenge!  I love seeing what everyone comes up with!

Challenge #2: Character Inspiration

Now before you have me committed, hear me out.  LOL  I think we are drawn to certain characters both in literature and in television because:
1.  We relate to them in some way.
2.  They are opposite of us and compliment us in that way. (and we would like to BE them)

I adore Lizzy Bennet in Pride and Prejudice.  She is smart, independent and witty.  I also love Sean from Psych.  He is irreverent, clever and carefree.

Challenge #2:  Character Inspiration:  Pick your favorite character from books/movies/t.v. and let them inspire your project (style, color, type of project...).

Just to get you thinking, here is my layout:

Can you guess who inspired me?

I used Kraft Cardstock and Cream Colored lined paper to mimic the very safe suits he always wears.  He is crazy about order, so I gridded my photos and made them black and white to they had a similar look and feel.  The tags helped add a bit of color and I again used them to create an pattern that had some order to it.  The pop of red for the title I just had to use, but I mimiced it on the bottom with the date as well.

I know this is a tricky one, but I think you might get hooked once you try it.  I am having a blast with it!

Week 18: Organize This: Tools

Ugh!  Really?  Can't I just pretend that I don't have any tools?  LOL  My problems with tools is their decidedly varied sizes and shapes.  Too many for me to make look nice and uniform.  I will keep my eyes closed for this one.  Let me know how you manage it.  LOL

We want to hear from you!

We have been doing Counterfeit Kit Challenge now for almost 2 whole years!  Posting almost daily and planning things for the blog is almost a full time job in itself!  Sometimes the ideas come easily and, well, sometimes we stare aimlessly at our computers hoping for a new idea to keep things fresh.

Now enters our faithful readers and participants...

We would really love to hear from YOU.

What do you love about the blog?

What is your favorite features we offer during the month?

What features are NOT your favorite?

What things would you like to see?

Be nice now.  LOL  Remember we do this for the love of scrapbooking so try to be as constructive as possible.  Feel free to add a comment or even e-mail us if you have a lot to say.  We promise to read all of them and will only change things that we feel are necessary to make it easier for us and make the blog better for you.

Thank you so much for playing along with us every month!  We are so inspired by you!

Master Forger Challenge #1

So is Challenge #1 rolling around in your brain right now?  Add an old item to my already put together kit?  Preposterous!  Unheard of!

Let's see if we can inspire you a bit!
Here's my take on the first challenge, inspired by some of the lovely comments about my GDT photograph! There are a couple of things on the layout that I haven't really used for a long time - teeny, tiny punched stars and my Martha Stewart Garden Gate Punch. I thought that since you were focusing on punches for your organising theme this month, I should haul mine out of retirement and make more use of them.

I'm really enjoying my crafting this month and will be posting more of my finished projects very soon!

Challenge #1: Oldie but a goodie

'Fess up now.  How many older things do you still have in your stash?  You try to purge, but keep putting that one (or more) thing back just in case.  No, I'm sure I'm the only one who ever does that.

I am guitly of saving a small selection of patterned paper ( I don't like it...but maybe...), a few rub ons and a few tools that I just can't part with.  And then there are these:

So many little embellishments from back in the day.  (By the way...these are the best storage cases EVER!)  Eyelets, brads, beads, hinges, tiny buttons, tiny safty pins....all tucked neatly away for someday.

Challenge #1:  Pick an OLD item from your stash and use it on your project.  Don't be shy!

What item did I pick?  Hmmmm...I wonder....I guess you will have to see tomorrow!

September Sketch Inspiration: Layouts

Have you seen the site 52 Sketches...52 Weeks ?  Julie Bonner set up a great site where she posted a sketch a week for a year.  She has generously kept the site available for inspiration, but still creates sketches and posts them on her personal blog now.  Her work is GORGEOUS.  You have to check her out!

I love the off centered look of this layout.  It would translate well into a card or even a double page.  Have fun!
