Challenge #3: Traditions

I LOVE traditions!  Finding some fun and quirky things to do year after year as a family helps make memories that we will all laugh about someday.

Some of my family traditions:
1.  Setting up Christmas decorations while watching The Grinch and the really fun old fashioned holiday cartoons.

2.  Doing a special countdown calendar for every day in December with little gifts or activities for each day until Christmas.

3.  Learning about Holiday Traditions in different countries during December with a special meal and craft each week.

4.  Reading a special book on Christmas Eve:

5.  Wondering what kind of HORRIBLE pajamas my husband picked out for me for Christmas Eve (we each open a pair of pajamas and a book).

Challenge #3:  Document a tradition for your family...either past or present

Master Forger Challenge: Fall Foliage

Guest Designer: Julie

The pictures I take in fall always include our kids, mainly my sweet girl. She loves to rake up piles of leaves to lay in or throw in the air. Last fall, she asked me to bring out the camera and she posed in the leaves. Here is the page I created with those fall photos. The leaves in this photo tie in to her favorite headband, that looks a lot like a pile of pink leaves ;) It was a great challenge to use the colors from my kit for fall photos!

Organize This: Dies for Die Cut Machines

My Love Affair with the Label Maker has more great ideas for organizing your dies for your machines.  I have a cuttlebug and *cough* several cricuts and am always running out of storage for my dies/cartridges.

How do you organize your dies?  Tell me!  Tell me!

Let's Talk December Daily

So December Daily's...what is it?  Basically a month long version of the ever popular project life.  You commit to taking photos every day in December to document your month and then put them in your handy dandy already put together album for that purpose.  LOL  Honestly, having a fast and easy album already put together does make the process so much faster, easier and, let's face it, finishable.

If you have not tried it yet, I would encourage you to give it a go this year!  You still have time to whip something up OR you can always just focus on photos for December and put together your album in January.  Honest.  It really can work that way!

Libeeti's November Page Kit!

Libeeti has created a fantastic page kit for us to copy! I love the colors she picked!  You can go wrong with red in your fall kits!  This is also a great reminder to toss in some scraps when you make your kits!  Let's use those babies up!

Master Forger Challenge 1: Stamp Inspiration

I am envious that any of our Master Forgers could narrow down what stamp to use.  LOL  I have a closet full and couldn't even begin to decide!

Guest Designer: Julie
Hello, ladies! Here is my page for the stamp inspired challenge! I went with the bicycle stamp from a Close to My Heart set to focus on the theme and subject of my photo. It also brings focus to the bicycle that was already on my patterned paper.

Challenge #1: Stamp Inspiration

Challenge #1:  Stamp Inspiration: Pick ONE stamp (not the whole set) to inspire you and use on your project. You can use more than one stamp, but your inspiration one should be prominent.  You will tell me which stamp it was on your blog and how it inspired you.

Tutorial: Sun ray/Sunburst Paper Tutorial

I love the look of the "sun ray/sunburst" design on layouts these days.  If you don't know what I mean, check out the gallery at Two Peas in a Bucket.  I found 2 tutorials explaining how to crate these designs.  The first tutorial uses an ink pad and can be found here.  The second uses cut patterned paper.  It is a little more complicated, but you will create a template that you can use over and over, it can be found here.

Enjoy!!

Novemberr 2012 Inspiration

Hello fellow Counterfeiters!  This month, we are going to change it up a bit and let YOU pick what to counterfeit!  With collection kits and coordinating embellishments so popular, we thought it would be a great idea to let you choose a collection from 2012 and find (or create) papers and embellishments from your stash to mimic the new collection.

We think this will be so much fun!  We cannot wait to see what you and the Master Forgers come up with.  If you create something by hand for your kit and would like to create a tutorial for it (including photos).  Please email  your photos and step by step instructions and tell is what collection/embellishment you are counterfeiting, so we can include it in our tutorials this month.  We try to feature at least one tutorial a day everyday between the 7th and 12th of the month.   So that only leaves you a couple of days to get started!  Our email address is counterfeitkitchallenge@yahoo.com.

Check back in tomorrow to see what the Master Forgers have created!!!

What's the next step???

The CHALLENGE is to use this kit for inspiration. How, you ask? Well, there are many ways to go about this. Here are a few ideas...
  • Try and match every piece in the kit as close as possible to something from your supply stash.
  • Use the "kit contents" as inspiration, and recreate your own kit with the same types of supplies, but in a different color or style that corresponds better with your preferences/photographs/scrapbook style/tastes.
  • Make an even smaller "page kit" or "card kit"..."counterfeiting" just a few items from this month's kit as inspiration.
  • Using the color scheme from the kits as inspiration, try to re-create a kit of your own using whatever supplies you have available.
What's to come?...
  • Tomorrow we will post pictures of the inspired Counterfeit Kits we put together from our stash of supplies. The link for you to share pictures of your Counterfeit Kits with each other is here.
  • Over the next week, we will add links to tutorials for counterfeiting many of the embellishments in this month's inspiration Kit's.
  • Over the next month, we will post mini challenges to USE your new kit, as well as organize a blog hop to share your creations!
  • We hope you all find some inspiration in the kit club we choose this month!!! If you aren't sure where to begin, check out the "Hints and Tips" page of our blog for some help. Feel free to leave a comment, questions, or any suggestions!!! We look forward to hearing from you.
Mister Linky For November 2012
To find the Mister Linky Post quickly, there is a link on the top right sidebar of our blog called "Mister Linky Post". Every time you would like to link a picture of your counterfeit kit, or a layout you made with your kit, please link it to that Mister Linky, also found here.
You do not need to have a blog or on-line gallery to link your pictures. You can upload the picture to your Facebook (don't forget to share it as "public") and link that web address to Mister Linky! Or, if you need help figuring out how to link your work, please e-mail us, attach your picture, and we'll help you out. Our e-mail is counterfeitkitchallenge@yahoo.com.

November 2012 Mister Linky

Here is the Mister Linky for ALL of the links for the month of November...whether you are linking a picture of your kit, a mini challenge, or anything else you have created, link it here. There is a "quick link" to this Mister Linky on the top right side bar of the blog as well.

In order to make this Mister Linky a little easier to *understand* with so many different types of links in it...in the "name" field below, type your name and either the word "kit", "mini challenge", or "other" according to what you are linking. Hopefully that will keep it a little organized!!!

Organize This: Week 21 Pens and Pencils

This week could be super simple, but then again, maybe complex---I guess it depends on how extensive your pen, pencil, and marker stash is.  Here is Wookie Mouse's blog post about Organizing Pens, Pencils, and Markers...if you have any additional ideas, leave a comment below!

We are listening!

Thank you SO much for all of your input on what you love on our blog and what we can do better!  We discussed every comment (and gave ourselves hugs for all of the kind words) and came up with some ways we can make things even better (without taking on so much that we don't love it anymore).

Exciting new things to look forward to:
1.  Our DT memeber, Crystal will be moving into a "partner" role with Meridy and I to help shoulder some of the creativity and posting responsibilities.
2.  We will be posting every OTHER day so we can keep things fresh (and not forced by trying to come up with things daily).
3.  We will be sharing the Kit to Counterfeit on the 1st of the month to give you more time to create!
4.  We will be moving our 1st challenge to the 3rd of the month and making that a BLOG HOP for our great Countefeiters to participate in again!  Yep.  We are bringing it back!
5.  We have some great new regular features in the works: Trash to Treasure...Daring Desing Techniques...Step by Step...

We did talk about putting up a link if people wanted to donate to the running of the blog, but we really would like to keep it free at this point.  Thank you for that suggestion, though!  It made us feel very loved that it was even suggested!  Keep commenting, sharing us on your blogs and posting about us on other sites!  That can be our "payment" for now.  LOL  We love to know we are not just talking to ourselves here.

Enjoy November...great changes are coming!  And December?  Get ready for a jam packed month!  I am SO excited about our December plans!!

We love and appreciate all of you!  Thank you so much for hanging out with us each month!

Bethany, Meridy and Crystal
