The pocket pages version:
. . . . .
{harrumph}
I GIST don’t like that kit.
{harrumph}
It GIST is not my style!
{harrumph!!!!}
There GIST is not a single thing in there that inspires me.
. . . . .
That’s not the voice in my head talking, because I find this month’s kit enchanting, exciting, excellent in all respects. (In fact, I've joined in the fun with a mini-kit on the 6th.)
But I understand that some of you may be feeling this way. Been there, done that myself.
In any given month, it could be the feeling of any given number of followers. We hope not, but the possibility is real.
Not every kit is to every person’s taste. If it were, there would soon only be one kit club on the planet Earth. (Oh no!)
And there would be no need for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge to help us use up our kits and older supplies. (Horrors!!)
So if you are one of the, shall I say, GIST a tad bit unenthusiastic readers about this inspiration kit, CKC is here to help you out.
We picked the kit, right? It is the least we could do, right?
The least we could do.
The very least!
. . . . .
{ahem}
{hmmmm}
{aha!}
That’s the GIST of it then!
{Yes, indeed!}
The least we could do.
. . . . .
Yes, why not pick out one single item that speaks to you and build a kit around it.
Honestly, I do not believe you cannot find one single thing in that kit that you don’t like enough to start a small page kit.
Start small and see where it takes you.
See what one supply you reach for first. And then what's the next, and the next, and the next after that?
Reach for your supplies, your stash, your choices.
Sure, it may have no resemblance to the inspiration kit.
Who cares, as long as you end up with a kit to use this month.
It is international scrapbook month, after all - you must be armed and ready.
That is the ultimate goal – kit up your supplies so you will use them.
Go ahead, give it a try. Here are a few of the single items I noticed:
script in black and white |
overlapping printed letters |
speech bubbles |
bold stripes across |
What about you? What is gist enough to get you started?
. . . . .
{pssst . . . you don’t even have to admit that this worked.}
{ahem . . . or that your kit bears even a modicum of similarity to ours, which we bet it might.}
. . . . .
I have to chime in on this topic. What happens when you don't "like" the kit? Personally I am excited by the opportunity to push myself out of the comfort zone. By digging in, even when the kit doesn't speak to me, neigh, ESPECIALLY when the kit does not call my name, my layouts have gone places I would never have taken them on my own. Don't forget that "Challenge" is part of our game plan.
