August 2021 - Just The Gist Of It

 Sometimes making up a kit just comes so easily but then there are other times when we don't really know where to start. So I'm back today to offer you one possible starting point in case you're stuck and need some help with how to make that first step in bringing your stash together for your own kit.

So let's start with a reminder of our gorgeous inspiration kit for this month - the May 2021 Dani Peuss kit which you can find here.

There are many starting points and if you look back over previous months you can find many takes such as colour, motifs, patterns.

But today I'd like to suggest you start with one single sheet of paper to find your inspiration - High Tide from the Care Free collection by Heidi Swapp.

I think this sheet of paper has a bit of everything that the kit has to offer - it has ALL the colours from the complete kit; the motifs of summer and tropical flora as well as the woodgrain that is found in the kit; and then there are all the words - beach, summer, adventure, good mood, happiness. There's even a rainbow and a sunset - who doesn't love those designs at the moment?!? 

Are you not feeling the summer groove? Then concentrate on the darker greens, greys and neutrals which could take your kit in a different direction or season. Rather than thinking about beach and tropics, you could think about pines, rivers and mountains which could then take the kit in a winter, snow landscape instead. 

To me, this single piece of paper sums up the whole feeling and mood of the original kit and if you use this as your starting point, I think it would take you a long way to build an awesome set of your own supplies to keep you going through August.
