Just the Gist of It

I put together our inspiration kit this month and I'll be the first to admit that there is definitely a lot going on in my "Little Bits of Happy" kit:

There's a big variety of colors, patterns and embellishments. When I curate a kit, I usually start with one paper that has several colors from the inspiration kit.  I'll then fill in my kit with colors from the paper that was my initial choice.  Let's pull out a few papers from my March kit and use them as starting points.

This first group of papers is what I'll call "the warm brights".  I started with the multi-color striped paper and then pulled the dotted paper (which was inspired by the navy stripe), the pink and white text (inspired by the pink stripe) and the orange tone-on-tone paper (inspired by the orange stripe).  This quartet is composed primarily of warm colors and will give you a base for a bright and sunny kit.

This second group of papers is one I'll call "the cool neutrals".  I started with the large black & white floral print, then pulled in the black & white stripe, a small white print on gray, and the blue polka dots.  This kit has primarily cool colors and neutrals and will give you a base for a calm and soothing kit.

I hope that this divide and conquer method makes it less overwhelming when you're faced with a big and busy kit.
