November 2019 - Just the Gist of It

I'm so happy to see you back here today. I hope you've already checked out our main inspiration kit this month, showcased yesterday on the blog. If not, you can find it here.

Just a reminder of the main inspiration kit that I picked out from Scrapdelight Scrapwinkel

 https://www.scrapdelight.nl/product/67860/123-documenter-kit-pocket-pages-winter-thema/

Now I totally love this kit and think that the colours are stunning - if a little different from all the kits we've had this year so far - but I know that it might not be for everyone. I'm sure we can help!

But maybe you're a little stumped and don't really know where to start? Maybe the fact that it's exclusives makes it a little tricky? Maybe you're unsure about the patterns? Maybe you just need a little more help to make the first step.

When I'm a bit stuck with how to interpret the inspiration kit, I tend to head for a limited colour scheme based on the original and that's what I'd like to offer you today.

I love using colour palette generators online and headed over to one of my favourites to create a couple of different palettes from the same main kit inspiration.

This one contains the first colours that caught my eye when I first saw the kit:

And then I decided to try to select the stronger shades in the papers and created this palette:

And then I decided to turn the "volume" right down and find the softer, pastel shades that are also very prevalent.

Maybe one of these three colour schemes can help you today or why not head over to Coolors.co  and try it out for yourself using the main inspiration kit or even the scrapbook or paper kits.

I hope you've been inspired today and we can't wait to see which direction the inspiration takes you!

Just a reminder that we'll be back throughout the month to give you some tipis, ideas and challenges as you put together and use your kit.

Here's what we have coming up this month:
  • November 4th:  We'll have our "Forgery on the Fourth" post where the Master Forgers will reveal how they created their own version of some of the items in this month's kit.
  • November 6th:  We'll reveal a couple of mini-kits and projects, in case you're a little limited for time this month and would prefer a more petite kit.
  • November 12th & 18th:  We'll give you two challenges to help you use the kit you've made.
  • November 24th:  I'll be showcasing one of the CKC community who's caught my eye this month
  • November 30th: We'll be offering another installment in our {Killing Kits} series to help you find ways to use up all of your kit.

We always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us.
You can use our Monthly Link-up page, post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcnovember2019).

Thanks so much for stopping by! We can't wait to see your kits and projects this month!

  1. How fun to fine tune the colors like that -- really loving the palest combination.

  2. Thanks Lisa for providing these 3 different levels for tones of color! It really helped draw out visually for me those values from the kit's papers. I'm really hoping I have time to compile and create with a kit this month!

  3. I really love how you show the three different tones of color. That should really help someone find stuff in their stash to create their own kit!

  4. This is such a fabulous resource - thanks for introducing me to it!
