How To Play Along With Us

How Does The Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Work?

Every month, one of the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Master Forger team chooses a kit from a popular kit club for us all to use as inspiration. That kit is revealed here on the 1st of every month along with a blog hop where the design team unveil their kits with photos and descriptions of how they interpreted the original kit.

The kits we choose are fairly current and we will provide links and details as far as we can.  The challenge is to draw inspiration from the "real kit" to create your own "counterfeit kit" using just the supplies you already own. Our fabulous design team (aka: the Master Forgers) are here to help you every step of the way - from providing tips on how to choose products from your stash to showcasing layouts and cards to get your creative juices flowing.

In addition to our challenge to "counterfeit" your own kit, we issue two other challenges - on the 12th and 18th of each month. These challenges are specifically designed to help you use up items in your kit.

We also provide inspiration for those of you who, for whatever reason aren't able to make a full kit, with examples of mini-kits and projects. These might be page, card, project life or even mini album kits. You'll find this showcased on the 6th.

There's also tutorials for creating your own embellishments in our "Forgery on the Fourth" post on the 4th of the month.

We challenge you to jump right in, join us, be inspired, create and share your work! We can't wait to meet you!

We LOVE participation!  Here are some ways that YOU can get involved and play along!

1.  Monthly Link Up:  We love to see what you are working on!  Link up your project based on your kit from either your blog or Flicker.  We promise you will get some great feedback!

2.  Counterfeit Kit Challenge Facebook Group:  We have a pretty active Facebook group with additional inspiration throughout the month.  Please join us!

3.  CKC Flicker Group:  Feel free to post your project to our flicker group!  A lot of people go there for inspiration!

4.  Guest Designer:  Each month we pick wonderfully inspirational crafter to be our Guest Designer for a month. The Guest Designer gets an e-mail along with our Master Forgers to get a first look at the new kit, they participate in the opening kit reveal hop and one of our challenges and have a great time being our focus for the month. We love the fresh air that Guest Designers bring to our team every month and we find that the mutual inspiration is wonderful for all of us! Most of the current Master Forgers were a Guest Designer for us at some point before they joined the team *wink* *wink*

5.  Social Media: Feel free to add your kit and all creations to your social media and use the hashtag   #counterfeitkitchallenge

Other helpful information ….

  1. I am so excited to participate in the counterfeit kit challenge. I have so many supplies that I have been saving for years now for that special layout. I got my scrapbook room cleaned and everything in its place waiting for the new kit so I can join in. Looking forward to using the kit to get all those special papers used LOL!

  2. I'm hoping this is the right place to comment! I've uploaded my first kit, thanks to help from Emma :) x

  3. This sounds so fun...just came upon the blog and am so excited to start participating :)

    1. Hope to see you joining in! Great that you found us Carrie! :-)

  4. I’ll be on the lookout for the challenges :) is there a prize, or is it just for fun/to get our creative juices flowing?

    1. Hey there Nelya! Nice to have you here. :-)

We don't specifically offer prizes although there have been giveaways from time to time when we're celebrating something specific!

We don't have sponsors and are all here for the fun of creating kits from our own stash and using it up.

So, yes! It's for fun and for getting our creative juices flowing. The more the merrier as we like to get inspiration from each other as well as the prompts and ideas we offer.

Hope to see you joining in :-)
