August 2011 Counterfeit Inspiration Kit

Welcome to our 8th month of Counterfeiting!!!  We just wanted to remind everyone that this month's sponsor, Allison Davis, is going to be giving away 2 sketchbooks, Sketches for Scrapbooking Volume 8 and Sketches for Scrapbooking One Page Sketches Volume 1.  For more details, see this post.

This Month's Inspiration Kit...
Again, the August 2011 Inspiration Kit is going to be a kit from 2010.   We are going to be working with a kit from My Creative Scrapbook this month.

You can view the September 2010 inspiration kit from My Creative Scrapbook at http://www.mycreativescrapbook.com/pkits.htm.
You have to scroll down to September 2010 to see the photos of the kit(s) for this month.   There are 4 kits to choose from, the Main Kit, the Album Kit, the Mini/Creative Kit, and the Limited Edition kit.  Feel free to counterfeit any of the kits.  If you want to do more than one, that's great too!

"Theme Park/Fair" Add-On Kit...

Bethany has created a "Theme Park/County Fair" themed Add-on Kit to coordinate with My Creative Scrapbook 2010 Kit.   If you would like to create a Theme Park/Fair Add-On Kit, please feel free to Counterfeit Bethany's...or simply pull a few 'themem park/fair' embellishments from your stash of supplies to coordinate with your August 2011 Counterfeit Kit.  For more information about Bethany's Add-On Kit, please visit her blog http://inspiredscrapper-bethany.blogspot.com/.  (If you have lots of Disney/Theme Park/County Fair photos to scrapbook, you might want to make a Theme Park/Fair Add-On...we will be working with it later in the month, and would love for you to join along!)

What's the next step???

The CHALLENGE is to use this kit for inspiration. How, you ask? Well, there are many ways to go about this. Here are a few ideas...
  • Try and match every piece in the kit as close as possible to something from your supply stash.
  • Use the "kit contents" as inspiration, and recreate your own kit with the same types of supplies, but in a different color or style that corresponds better with your preferences/photographs/scrapbook style/tastes.
  • Make an even smaller "page kit" or "card kit"..."counterfeiting" just a few items from this month's kit as inspiration.
  • Using the color scheme from the kits as inspiration, try to re-create a kit of your own using whatever supplies you have available.
What's to come?...
  • Tomorrow we will post pictures of the inspired Counterfeit Kits we put together from our stash of supplies.  The link for you to share pictures of your Counterfeit Kits with each other is here
  • Over the next week, we will add links to tutorials for counterfeiting many of the embellishments in this month's inspiration Kit's.
  • Over the next month, we will post mini challenges to USE your new kit, as well as organize a blog hop to share your creations!
  • We hope you all find some inspiration in the kit club we choose this month!!!  If you aren't sure where to begin, check out the "Hints and Tips" page of our blog for some help.  Feel free to leave a comment, questions, or any suggestions!!!  We look forward to hearing from you.

Mister Linky For August 2011
We are going to use a new Mister Linky each week throughout the entire month.  To find the Mister Linky Post quickly, there is a link on the top right sidebar of our blog called "Mister Linky Post".  Every time you would like to link a picture of your counterfeit kit, or a layout you made with your kit, please link it to that Mister Linky, also found here

You do not need to have a blog or on-line gallery to link your pictures.  You can upload the picture to your Facebook (don't forget to share it as "public") and link that web address to Mister Linky!  Or, if you need help figuring out how to link your work, please e-mail us, attach your picture, and we'll help you out.  Our e-mail is counterfeitkitchallenge@yahoo.com.

  1. don't know if I'll get time to play this month with the kids on school holidays. BUT, my daughter (she's 7) is doing some scrapbooking DT work this summer and was very overwhelmed by the size of a huge basics stash she was given to work with this week. I'm going to help her "counterfeit" this months kit with some of the items in the large stash to break it down into something more manageable for her - and teach her a new skill at the same time.

  2. I'm off on holiday tomorrow for a week, but I hope to get to this when I come back. I think I might be able to do something off the limited edition kit for an album for my niece.

  3. Two weeks until my daughter's wedding. After that I'll be able to scrap again. Love the inspiration kits!
