Document December with Leslie: My Project

Ahhh... the best laid plans of mice, men...

oops...
 AND Master Forgers...

My original idea for this year was to keep December uber-easy & to simply do a journal entry each day on a calendar style page. I would embellish the back side of the previous page & pen down my deep thoughts.  It turned out to be quite a yawn! Pretty bad when you bore yourself (wink-wink)

I've reverted to the standard daily photo format of a December Daily & have been happily moving right along with it. I kept the same plan that I originally intended of mimicking a daily flip calendar.

A quick reminder of what was in my kit:

I am using that little 4 x 5" Maya Road chipboard album. The beautiful nativity wood veneer was originally intended for my cover & the gold dot burlap was glued to the inside cover but it just didn't suit the more playful direction I went so I tore it off - no new inspiration for that yet...

These were the papers that I used for my pages along with some stickers & cut aparts.

For starters, I am really happy with how my cover turned out - it makes me smile!
The tricking out of the elements all started with that little pompom hat on the wood veneer snowman,
inspired by this Jennifer Grace Creates Frosty Festivities post last month.

Although not in my original kit, that string of lights from a Christmas village was perfect on the chipboard tree. I sprayed some white Dylusions on the background for a little snowy ambiance.

Here's a quick look at my pages so far.

I will do a few update posts on my blog before month end.  It's a good thing I decided to go with such a small format as most of my photos are really poor quality - something to consider with a true daily album as many photos will be with your cellphone in less than perfect light.

Of course, the big day's festivities should yield me some full-size pages, but I'm especially hoping for a really good family photo that can be featured in my little DD album. I'm glad I let my instincts take me back to the discipline of getting something down for each day as this little book will make a wonderful keepsake.

It may seem too late to begin but you know you have all those photos on your phone that would make a grand little souvenir of December. Just gather up a few things in your favorite color & style. Maybe use a pack of 3x5" index cards for your page base that could even be put loose into a file box. January is a nice time to work on a little project like this while the memories are fresh.

Please enjoy the season of the Saviour's birth this year.
He IS the reason for the season.

  1. Glad that you changed course and made your project something that you enjoy. That cover is completely adorable with that cute snowman and the lights on the tree. The sequins and the dusting of "snow" really finish it off too. I'll definitely be checking in to see your pages!

  2. Bravo! So many great ideas in such a small space. Pull out journal tags, shaker box, overlays. And your encouragement to begin, even this late in the month, has me thinking....."how can I do this? " While not much has happened at my desk, I have been getting more organized each day. The only thing I like more than scrapbooking (and collecting scrapbook supplies) is organizing.

Please tag me on FB when you blog about your little album. I don't want to miss a bit of it!

  7. I love it!!!! That cover is totally adorable and I think it's funny that you changed direction right in the middle. I would have done the same though! Or at least not gone on so Bravo to you for deciding on a new direction. I need to check out your blog. You are right that Jan is a good time to get going on a December journal and that is certainly my plan. xxx
