Hello lovelies! This month, I've chosen the truly beautiful 'Garden Party' Kit from Sahin Designs, as the inspiration kit. It feels so different to the colourful 'summer' kits that are often released for July and, if the lack of colour has you a little confused about where to start, I'm here to offer some advice! And, to make sure that the advice is relatable, it's focused on washi! :)
Of course, don't forget that we'll be back throughout the month to give you some tips, ideas
and challenges as you put together and use your kit.
Let's have a look at the Garden Party Papers which are, mostly, black and white. There's a little extra 'colour' in there, but it's a neutral wood/kraft. So, based on the black and white combination, I've collated a selection of my favourite washi. Not a bad match for the inspiration kit, eh?
Now. let's see what my selection would look like, if I altered the balance a little and included another neutral tone. I've used a metallic, in lieu of wood/kraft (because I don't have any of that in my washi stash.) Still a subtle selection, but maybe a little more of interest?
What would happen if we included a bit of real colour? Similar to the addition of that vibrant pink in the Garden Party Elements?
Finally, what would our washi kit look like, if we included both of our extra colours/tones, with one or two washi rolls that connect them? Doesn't this look lovely?
And, if all of this seems like too much hard work, remember that you can choose a kit that's mainly black and white - then simply turn over the sheets to reveal some colour on the back!
Here's what we have coming up this month:
- July 4th: We'll have our "Forgery on the Fourth" post where the Master Forgers will reveal how they created their own version of some of the items in this month's kit.
- July 6th: We'll reveal a couple of mini-kits and projects, in case you're a little limited for time this month and would prefer a more petite kit.
- July 12th & 18th: We'll give you two challenges to help you use the kit you've made.
- July 24th: I'll be showcasing one of the CKC community who's caught my eye this month.
We always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us.
You can use our Monthly Link-up page, post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcjuly2020).
Thanks so much for stopping by! We can't wait to see your kits and projects this month!
