November 2023 - Just The Gist of It

Welcome back to our Just The Gist of It post where we hope to offer you a possible starting point for creating your kit.

Sometimes, we just don't know where to start or there is something about the kit that doesn't feel like us, but we still want to bring a selection of items together to form our own monthly kit. This is the post for you! Hopefully, you will find some inspiration to get you going.

Let's just remind ourselves about our inspiration kit this month from The Hip Kit Club.

The Hip Kit Club November 2022 main kit

We've highlighted many ways to start looking at an inspiration kit over the year - some of us start with a colour scheme, some of us look at the elements of the kit, some start with what the kit reminds us of. In January, I talked about another Hip Kit Club kit which reminded me of Pinkfresh Studio style products and in August, I took two papers from the original kit to take your kit in a pastel or bold one direction.

This kit was all about the colours for me until I spotted that gorgeous knitted print paper right there in the middle - the blues and green. And the paper right of centre where you can spot a nutcracker and some decorations.

With the knit design, I knew immediately which paper to pick out - "Winter" from the Wonderland collection by Kaisercraft. I love this print so much I bought several sheets. It's a gorgeous colour and the design is just perfect in so many ways. (The a-side features these cute trees but I'm all about the knit print!)

This paper directed my choice of sage greens and pale and dark blues that I picked out by Carta Bella.

The Christmas decoration paper instantly made me think of my Mix & A-Mingle collection and I knew that it covered all the pinks, reds, mints and aquas also found in the kit. The "All the Trimmings" paper then helped my choice of the pinker side of my kit even going so far as to include some Valentine paper too!

What do you think? Is this something for you? What element of the kit will inspire your own starting point? If you are still unsure, why not give one of the ideas offered this year to get you going? Let us know how it worked for you!

Here is what the rest of November‘s inspiration will look like:
