Tutorial-Decorative Photo Corner Overlays

In this month's Mini Creative Kit there was a set of yellow overlay photo corners with flourish designs on them.  These can be easily recreated with transparency paper, Staz-On Ink, and/or paint.  They can even be dressed up a bit with glitter and rhinestones!  Here is an example...

Supply List:
Staz On Ink (or other similar ink pad)
Stamps (flourishes, corner designs)
Glitter and/or glitter glue (Stickles)
Rhinestones
Transparency Paper (Clear Paper)
Acrylic Paint

Step 1:
I use 4x6 photos often when I scrapbook, so I cut a few pieces transparency paper down to 4x6.

Step 2:
Either using the acrylic paint, or ink pad, ink up your stamp and stamp your image on the transparency.  The stamp will slip and slide around if you are not steady, so you might want to try a test stamp first on a scrap piece of transparency.

Step 3:
After the ink/paint has dried, turn the transparency over and rub glue over the back side of the image, sprinkle on a small amount of glitter and tap off the excess. (Or use Stickles and rub it around with your finger to create a thin film of glitter.)

Step 4:
Turn the transparency back over (right side up) and add a few rhinestones to the front.

It's that simple!  Here are a few photos of some that I made tonight.  I made 2 Decorative Photo Overlays and 2 bracket journal blocks.

  1. Very pretty! This is such a good idea and I think I will have to try it. I have some very nice corner stamps, languishing in my "stamps" drawer. Time to find and use them!!
I wonder how this would work if I used paper -or even patterned paper - as the background? It's Scrap Club here this weekend...I will give it a try!
Thanks for your great idea and little tutorial!
