Tutorial-Layered Embellishments and Mini Tags

Crate Paper "Farmhouse" Stand Outs
from the "Home Sweet Home" Inspiration Kit

I love embellishments like these.  Lots of tiny details, textured layers, and rhinestones, pearls, or glitter as a finishing touch.  If you have lots of die cuts, or even patterned paper in your stash you can easily create your own "Stand Outs" to coordinate with any layout you create.

Start with a mini tag, a blank or printed die cut design, or fussy cut a design from patterned paper---and you have your base.  Simply add a few more layers, maybe something with a texture, like felt, fabric, ribbon, chipboard, or a silk flower.  Add in a few hand stitches with embroidery floss, or some glitter, pearls, rhinestones, a button, or a brad and there you have it...a DIY "Stand Out"!

Our guest designer, Felecia, created a tutorial a while back for creating these types of embellishments. You can read it here,  "Embellies with Punches and Bits and Pieces".  Enjoy!!!

Christine Middlecamp makes really beautiful embellishments like this.  Here is a link to one layout she used them on, but you can find them all over her blog.  Here is another great example!
