May 2020 - Just the Gist of It

Greetings, CKC followers - Master Forger Leslie here. Hope this finds you all well & safe. Our latest Counterfeit Kit Challenge inspiration kit went live yesterday. Are you having a little trouble getting started? Sometimes it's tough to know exactly where to begin. Let me see if I can help!

Club Echo Park March 2020 kit

"Our Oh Happy Day collection is filled with flowers, sunshine, and happiness. This collection is guaranteed to make you smile no matter what you’re celebrating! With a wide variety of colors, and designs, you’re sure to find something beautiful and befitting!"

Don't you just love their description? And the kit certainly fits the bill.

If you've been following along for very long you know that each of our Master Forgers have their own unique approach to creating their counterfeit kit. I always start with the papers & am usually going for a very close match with my entire kit, although I often don't end up there!

Another productive approach can be to analyze the inspiration kit.
You might make a list of the items: brightly colored papers with floral, fruit, dot & gingham patterns
a small paper pad, stamp set & washi tape, ephemera pack, frame & tag pack, cut apart sheets, including afloral alphabet

On occasion, one or more of us will "go rogue". Maybe the kit just really is not your thing, but even a generic list of what is included can direct your kit building. Collect items unrelated to the inspiration kit, perhaps for a project that you want to complete this month - it still counts as a kit!

A little extra tip is that if you have go-to items that you always use, be sure to add those in! Our goal is to stash bust when curating our kit & then kill our kits by month end.

And of course the ultimate help is reviewing the Master Forgers versions in yesterday's Kit Reveal and Blog Hop, if you haven't already. Don't forget that we'll be back throughout the month to give you some tips, ideas and challenges as you put together and use your kit:
  • May 4th: We'll have our "Forgery on the Fourth" post where the Master Forgers will reveal how they created their own version of some of the items in this month's kit.
  • May 6th: We'll reveal a couple of mini-kits and projects, in case you're a little limited for time this month and would prefer a more petite kit.
  • May 12th & 18th: We'll give you two challenges to help you use the kit you've made.
  • May 24th: I'll be showcasing one of the CKC community who's caught my eye this month
  • May 30th: We'll be offering another instalment in our Killing Kits Series to help you find ways to use up all of your kit.

We always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us. You can use our Monthly Link-up page, post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcmay2020).
Thanks so much for stopping by! We can't wait to see your kits and projects this month.
