It's time to see what MF Lisa did with the prompt for Day 2 - Two Turtle Doves.
Here's a reminder of our challenge.
I haven't made a Christmas kit (yet) and am still debating if I can get into something daily this month but knowing I had some scrapping to do and having just rummaged through my Christmas supplies for another crafty project, I decided to just grab an old collection and run with it.
The "All is Bright" collection from My Mind's Eye appealed at that moment and I was curious to see if I could make something I felt satisfied with using these older products - the answer is yes!
The prompt asks us to think about spending the festivities with those we love or maybe not being able to see loved ones at this time of year. Both of these directions were working for me but when I thought about how many pages I make about my sweet husband and adorable puppy, I decided it was time to make a layout about someone else dear to me - my mum - who I rarely get to spend time with at Christmas!
Living in another country which is home means that going "home" for Christmas is rare and has only happened a few times since I moved here 21 years ago. I get to see my family at other times of the year and sometimes right before Christmas if I go to see them for my birthday or they come here for the Christmas Markets.
But I would love my mum to come here and celebrate a German/English Christmas with me. Maybe one day when the little kids have grown up and she feels she can spend the festive time without them.
Anyway, my journalling covers this and it made me feel a little homesick to make the page!
I also decided to cover the technique prompt at the same time, including two photos, focussing my embellishments in two places, using two font types- all small and all capitals, placing my journalling in two places and basing my embellishments on sticker and enamel dots. All the twos!
I don't scrap about my family enough to be honest so it was lovely to have a nudge to remedy this - maybe I can keep up this momentum. It also made me happy to use up some of this very old paper collection!
How will you interpret the prompt today?
We'd love it if you'd join in.
