Hello again! Are you feeling overwhelmed with all the beautiful weather and activities that summer has to offer, but you still want to scrap? The solution to that is to create a mini kit. By limiting supplies of coordinating papers, embellishments, and colors, you eliminate the decision making process and can jump right into creating one or two scrapbook layouts in no time. You can even take your mini kit on vacation with you. Let's take another look at our inspiration kit.
Remember earlier I said I was on mini kit duty this month? Here's my kit in its entirety.
You'll notice I don't have very many embellishments. Yes, I know it's a mini kit. I plan to make most of my embellishments using stamps and metal dies from my stash.
Here are some of the tools I'll be using to make my embellishments.
My Projects
Now, let see what Master Forger Misty has come up with.
I went with a very specific story and built my kit around that story. Let's take a look at the kit first.
Pattern Papers. Notice I have three papers from the inspo kit!
I added in a few embellishments, including my forgery on the fourth makes (pickup truck and windmill).
I needed some essential tools and some alpha stickers specific to my story. As you'll see later these are glittery alphas which may not be the first pick based on the vintage inspiration!
So, below, you can start to see my grand plan. I have a base layout with two panels that will pull out from behind the notches. Each panel has two flip-outs. This is going to allow me a total of 11 photos on a single page layout.
To assemble the layout I will need lots of foam tape to create channels for the pullouts. (Don't worry about the upside down paper, no one will see that! LOL)
I will apply plain cardstock over the foam tape to create the channels for the pull outs.
With my structure in place I can get to assembling and decorating. Here is a look at how it all works together.
And one close look at those alphas. I used silver glitter and black glitter to match my title: "Diamonds in the rough". This tells the story of successes amidst plenty of failures! I used the "d" and "r" to head each pull out for continuity.
I hope you are inspired to tell the good along with the bad in life, perhaps even side by side!
Now, let's see what's ahead for the rest of the month.
