September 2025 - Challenge #3 Let's Get Sketchy

Welcome back!  Today is probably my favorite challenge of the month, the Sketch Challenge!
Don't ever stress about starting with a sketch.  It doesn't have to be followed exactly.  You can change anything in a sketch - the number of photos, the orientation of the photos, or the placement of the title and ephemera.  A sketch is meant to be an inspiration.

Here's a little reminder of our inspiration kit, Life Captured by Simple Stories.

And here is the sketch I created for this month.

Our Guest Designer is taking part in this challenge along with our Master Forgers.  Here is what they created for the challenge.

Using Vikki's awesome sketch I knew I would be able to use up one of my cut apart cards for the center title, and once I saw the happy happy happy I knew what pictures I wanted to use.  Taking a class with Janene, the owner of 49 & Market definitely made me happy happy happy.  I then picked the background paper with the chit chat bubbles cause all the little sayings applied to this day.  I got to use up lots of labels and a frame in my clusters, helping me move closer to my goal of using up all the ephemera bits from this kit.

When I saw that this month's inspiration kit was Simple Stories Life Captured, I knew I had to use Simple Stories Best Year Ever as my kit choice. They are similar as they both are designed for documenting a whole year; whether you're making 12x12 layouts or pocket pages. I did add a few background papers, such as this pink ledger paper that I used for my background, and I added a black frame. I'm trying really hard to use what is in my kit. Keeping that in mind, I fussy cut the clouds from a pocket card. Using mostly stickers and a few chipboard pieces, I created my title cluster and two smaller clusters. I chose a photo I had taken some years ago of a flowering crab tree in our yard. It was perfect since it was Spring and was also taken in April. So happy I was able to use the April and Welcome Spring stickers in my title cluster.

Cool that the grid paper was in one of my collections that I pulled for this month that worked for this sketch. Something I do monthly is a Sam's Club run and knew this would be a good theme to document with this sketch.

Here's what's in store for the rest of the month.
