January 2019 - Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit reveal and blog hop

Happy New Year, Happy January 1st and Happy Kit Reveal and Blog Hop Day!  Wow - I'm excited to be kicking off another year of counterfeiting kits and I hope you like what we have in store for you this month!

December can be very busy and hectic and so when I began looking for a kit to use as inspiration for this month, I wanted to find something a little more restful than the riot of colors and patterns so prevalent during the holidays.  And I found exactly what I was searching for!

We'll be starting off the new year using the lovely "Hannah" kit from Felicity Jane as our inspiration!  It's fresh and clean and filled with soothing colors and patterns.  Let's take a little look at the kit and components...

You can get a closer look at all the bits and pieces on the Felicity Jane website here.  There's a fun mix of embellishments and textures: die-cuts, pocket cards, epoxy stickers, labels, and of course, those sweet tulle bows.  And the colors are suitable for any time of year. I think this kit sets just the right tone for new beginnings!

And now that I've introduced you to our inspiration kit, I'd like you to meet our first Guest Designer of the year, Meagan Johnson. She jumped right into kit-making and her September CKC kit, filled with lovely trims and textures, was especially gorgeous.  I am so happy to welcome her here this month!

My name is Meagan Johnson. I live in Minnesota with my husband of 18 years and my four kiddos ages ranging from (almost) 17 years to 17 months. I have been a traditional scrapbooker since 2002! I love recording my family’s memories and hoarding my stacks and stacks of supplies. I discovered the Counterfeit Kit Challenge in September of 2018 and have loved the opportunity to see my older supplies in fun new ways! I am looking forward to participating this month!

Meagan has a blog here and you can also find her on Instagram here.

I'm excited to see what Meagan and the rest of the Master Forgers put together this month, so let's get right to the hop!

We'll be back throughout the month to give you some tips, ideas and challenges as you put together and use your kit.  Here's what we have coming up in January:

  • January 2nd: I'll be back with a "Just the Gist" post to help jump-start your kit-making.
  • January 4th:  We'll have our "Forgery on the Fourth" post where the Master Forgers will reveal how they created their own version of some of the items in this month's kit.
  • January 6th:  We'll reveal a couple of mini-kits and projects, in case you're a little limited for time this month and would prefer a more petite kit.
  • January 12th & 18th:  We'll give you two challenges to help you use the kit you've made.

We always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us!  You can use our Monthly Link-up page, post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge and you can tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcjanuary2019).

Thanks for stopping by today - I'll be back tomorrow with some ideas to help you put together your kit!
