March 2019 - Challenge #1 - Frame It Up!

Welcome back to the first of two challenges this month to help you use up your Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit and have fun at the same time!

Let's just remind ourselves of the original inspiration kit by Scrapbook and Cards Today - spring 2018, "Blue Skies & Butterflies".

Challenge #1: Our inspiration kit has several frames included in the Pink Paislee die-cut pack as well as patterned paper covered with swirly frames! Include frames in a clever way on your project.

Let's see what our Guest Designer Susanne and Master Forgers Julene, Lisa, Tina & Leslie made for this challenge.

Guest Designer Susanne framed her title, her journaling and her date/place information.  It is a pretty effective way to distinguish the important text from the text background paper she used for matting.  And just to be sure, the whole layout is framed with pretty floral paper and a black outline.  More details and close-up photos on her blog.

In my kit I had a framed paper with journal lines in the middle.

I decided to use 5 frames with pictures of my trip to Arizona 12 months ago. (6 frames in all!)

  • I had die cut blue frames which I left blue as it matched the paper.
  • I had 2 copies of many of the photos, so it was ok to select parts of photos.
  • The 3 Studio calico frames, I also left neutral.
  • After placing them on the page I used pink twine to link the photos and show a journey from one place to another. Sedona, Monument Valley and Las Vegas.
  • I also had in my kit, 2 doilies, a flair saying "this and that", tags which added extra embellishment and the title, plus a bright blue sequin flower that I put on the Las Vegas showgirl picture.
  • I couldn't resist the racoon button on the desert photo.

Master Forger Lisa combined three different frames on her layout to highlight the main photo and to house the journalling which she printed out to fit. Two extra, supporting photos were matted to help them stand out and then all these elements were framed on a block of layered papers. The fussy cut banner at the top of the page is also a framing feature. Frames, frames and more frames. But with such beautiful photos, the page practically made itself anyway! You can find more detail shots over on her blog here.

Master Forger Tina used a variety of frames in a variety of ways on her layout. Using them for both the pictures and embellishing the layout:

Master Forger Leslie had quite a journey getting through this layout!

    2. It is! And knowing a little bit that you all are scattered around the world, boggles the mind, too! Similarities but then some wildly different techniques used by the 5 crafters featured in this post! Keep the creative resourcefulness coming, gals!!!
