Welcome to the first challenge of the new year and I'm excited to see what the Master Forger team have created for us today!
Let's just start off by reminding ourselves about this month's kit by Citrus Twist -
It's the New Year and
a time to think about the classic saying
"out with the old and in
with the new"!
Your challenge today is to check through
your kits to identify the NEWEST and OLDEST items in there, and then use both
of them on your project. Don't forget to let us know just how old these
products are!
Let's see who's got the longest time difference!
Guest Designer Melodee
You can see more today on Melodee's Instagram account here as well as the super cute layout her darling grandson created! (I got a glimpse and it's a cutie - worth checking out for sure!)

Master Forger Julene found some book paper that she has had for about 15 years. It is the oldest item. The red and white striped paper was bought a few weeks ago, it was the newest item.
Master Forger Tara found a really old set of Jenni Bowlin (remember her stuff??) in her kit as her oldest item. Her newest item is the dark red polka on red patterned paper that she purchased just for her January kit!! Here's her finished project:
If you want to see more about Tara's project you can head over to her blog to check out her post for today!
Master Forger Tina's 1st thing was to look through the paper to see what was the oldest - she already new what was the newest. She found some Basic Grey from 2010. The red glitter paper was from 2007 (when she started scrappin :) and the other paper is a Karen Foster Design paper with no date. Now the new stuff is the shiny gold enamel dots she got for Christmas. This was the starting basis of the layout.
You can see more about this layout over at Tina's blog.
Master Forger Tracey's first challenge had her researching her kit to work out exactly which was her oldest product and she discovered she had some Basic Grey Blitzen Christmas Paper from 2005, as for her newest it is the Kaisercraft Peppermint Kisses from 2019.
Here is Tracey's final creation combining the two papers together on her layout.
Master Forger Leslie jumped in with a challenging play of old (2007) & new 2019 items!
And of course, Master Forger Shannon is over on YouTube with her awesome make!

And of course, don't forget that we'll be back throughout the month to give you some tips, ideas and challenges as you put together and use your kit.
Here's what we have coming up this month:
- January 18th: We'll give you one more challenge to help you use the kit you've made.
- January 24th: I'll be showcasing one of the CKC community who's caught my eye this month
- January 30th: We'll be offering another installment in our Killing Kits Series to help you find ways to use up all of your kit.
We always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us. You can use our Monthly Link-up page, post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcjanuary2020).
This is a terrific way to start the month of January! Even this week when picking out clothes to wear each day for teaching, I had combinations of old and new! It was great wearing a new plaid shirt from my mom and jewelry from 2 nieces! Another day was a solid purple shirt received from my husband! Great mix-it-up projects! GD Melodee, GD Tracey, Master Forgers Julene, Leslie & Tara have wonderful layouts combining their old and new products. Nothing looks out of date! Every LO looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHope this New Year finds you & your husband well! Hope you have a chance for some craftiness with us this month. :)
