October 2021 - Forgery on the Fourth

FOF is back again today to show you how it's possible to look at the inspiration kit, see if there are any elements which you would love to incorporate into your own kit but that you don't have in your stash right now, and then take the idea forward to make your own version!

Let's see what our Master Forgeries have come up with this month:

Master Forger Tracey has been busy and has three different forgeries to share with you; the first is how she created the stencil that is in the Colour Kit:

Her second and third forgeries were from the Embellishment Kit, the cute rainbow in the chipboard Thickers and the gold hearts.

Here are the step by steps on how she created her forgeries:

Sun Stencil

First she used a small bottle to trace circles randomly over a 12x12 piece of cardstock, which she then used a craft blade to cut them out.

Using a dauber she dabbles some colour spray through the cut out circles.

Once dry she used a yellow pen to draw the sun rays radiating out from the circles.

Here is the final design. Simple and the stencil and be used again.

Rainbow Embellishments

For this one Tracey simply used thick markers in similar colours to the Rainbow on the Thicker sheet to draw a rainbow on some scrap cardstock.

Then it was just a matter of fussy cutting them out. Tracey will use some 3 dimensional tape to give them some depth when using them on her layout.

Gold Hearts

Tracey had a stencil in her stash that hearts of various sizes so she spread some Colour Blast Colour Paste in Bling through the stencil on to some white cardstock with a palette knife.

Leave to dry, with the Colour Blast Colour Paste the gold deeps as it dries and looks stunning.

Once dry it was a matter of just fussy cutting them out separately.

The gold hearts also caught Master Forger Laura eye and she decided to forge them too.

Glitter Gold Hearts

Laura used gold glitter card, gold foil card and her heart punch to recreate the glitter hearts.

She punched the hearts from the glitter and foil cards, put some foam tape on the back of each of them and stuck them to a piece of backing from an old alpha set. Voila, hearts ready to use!

Master Forger Juliet  has a couple forgeries this month.

First she loved the Wonders Stickers.  At first she thought she would use her Cricut to cut the letters out of foam but that didn't go as planned then she remembered she had some small alpha dies. It took a bit and thinking back she would have just cut them as she needed them but here is the end product.

She used some repositionable adhesive to stick them all to a transparency sheet for use as she needs them. This was an inexpensive forgery but it did take a bit.  Some of the letters she didn't have the color she wanted so she cut them out of white foam and 'colored' them with a copic marker.  So fun to know that with white foam, alphabet dies and her copic markers she can make alphas for any project!

She didn't stop there...she loved the dimensional stickers too...so she pulled out her cricut, made the frame cuts with the gold paper, the clear using the transparency film, and then the backgrounds with some thick white cardstock.  Added some of the ephemera flowers she had, a little foam to give it dimension and viola....

Master Forger Leslie had the perfect stamp set to forge some banner embellishments, plus she crafted a simple washi paper to counterfeit the Amy Tangerine b-side patterned paper in a little bolder vein to coordinate with her Be Colorful October kit!

As always, MF Lisa headed over to Pinterest and found some gorgeous free ribbon banners from Free Pretty Things For You  - a log in is needed but there are so pretty! You can find them at the site here

Master Forger Misty kept things simple by grabbing some inks and some cardstock to create her own versions of two of the sheets of paper from the original kit. She liked the butterfly print and the stripe print but didn't have anything in her stash like it. Her version takes on the color palette of her kit.
