October 2021 - Just the Gist of it

Hello, everyone!  Today is the day where we try to help you get started when your not quite sure where to start with putting your own kit together. Sometimes it's pretty easy to put a kit together, but then there are times it's just not clicking!
So let's start with the inspiration kit for the month from the Hip Kit Club - May 2021 Main Kit - which you can find here on the Hip Kit Club website or here on our Kit Reveal Blog Hop.

May's Hip Kit Club Main Kit

Lets discuss the kit and work through some ideas to help you pull your kit together. A first starting point that is good to focus on is colour - have a look at the picture of the chosen kit and see what colour combinations there are, what colours leap out at you? what colours you don't like? what main colour there is running through the kit? To narrow it down a bit try to concentrate just on the colours in the papers.
When I look at the colours in the May Hip Kit Club's kit I straight away think I see there are lots of colours that a beautiful but slightly muted or dulled, I think of rainbows, but not the bright ones.... soft ones. Lots of colours and patterns but all soft. So I know that I will be riffling through my stash looking for muted rainbow colours, the cardstock kit is a great one to look at for colour inspiration.
Next I look at the chosen kit and see if there is a specific theme; sometime it is easy to theme your kit other times not so easy. When I looked at the May Hip Kit Club I noticed a Spring feel (based on the small florals and blooms on the papers and in the embellishments). I also noticed an everyday moment theme (The Pink Fresh Keeping it Real papers and embellishments) which is a great thing to keep in mind as you look through your stash - looking for homes, books, transport, food.... things that we see and do every day.
Then I look at the elements - in this kit I can see banners, tags, labels and frames, so I keep these in mind when pulling embellishments for my kit.

Don't forget that we'll be back throughout the month to give you some tips, ideas and challenges as you put together and use your kit.
