August 2025 - Forgeries on the Fourth

Welcome back! Can you believe it's the Fourth of August already? That means it's time for Misty and some of our other Master Forgers to share the forgeries they have created using our inspiration kit for this month. Here's a reminder of that kit.

First up is Master Forger Misty.

I was inspired by the windmill and the truck icons. Check out my versions.

The truck I created by altering an existing cutfile from the Cricut Library. I modified it using the Cricut software. I wanted to create smooth curves for the fenders to cut as individual pieces.
(Tutorial available on my YouTube channel.)

I did not have a cutfile for the windmill so I created this one using nesting circle dies and my paper trimmer. When you see an image just as simple shapes, it can make recreation easier.
(Windmill how-to on my channel.)

Master forger Julene

I used the front cover of a 6x6 paper pad plus some scraps I had to create 6 journal cards.

I discovered some wood veneer cherries I had so added those on the cards.

Master Forger Amanda

I was inspired by all the plaid paper in the kit this month so I decided to make my own. I used the new mini distress oxides in festive berries, peeled paint, mustard seed and prize ribbon through a Pinkfresh Studio stencil called slimline plaid.  I only wanted to put the plaid on a little more than half of the page, and then went messy with a bunch of water, packaging technique, and spritzing and water droplets!

You can see my process here.

Master Forger Tina is up next.

I was inspired by all those fun diecuts in the kit that I had to create some of my own. I was so glad that I grabbed this stamp and diecut set when it came out from CTMH. So a bit of stamping then some diecutting and whola! some fast ephemera made.

Used just about all the stamps in this set
The finished diecuts ready to go on my layouts
Now they are ready to be used however I want to use them

Now, let's see what's ahead for the rest of the month.

{inter}National Scrapbook Day - Saturday 4th May 2019

Oh boy! We are excited to be here today on
{inter}National Scrapbook Day
and although this might be an unusual time of day for us to be posting, I hope you're having fun this scrappy-filled day and are enjoying all the creative inspiration that can be found online today.

We are so happy that you're here and hope that you enjoy this extra inspiration we are bringing you on this special day for the scrapbooking community. Don't forget to share and join in with kits, layouts and makes!

We are thrilled today to be in collaboration with the
who can be found on the link below the photo here. It's also a private Facebook Community and its focus is most definitely using up your beloved scrapbook stash and being part of a warm, welcoming, happy, sharing community.

That sounds familiar! Don't we always say that about The Counterfeit Kit Challenge community?!?

We thought it was a perfect complement to CKC and are excited to be joining them today to share the scrapbook stash love.

Bash Your Scrapbook Stash on Facebook here

The Bash Your Scrapbook Stash group presents monthly and weekly challenges of a different nature to encourage their members to use their stash with specific items, techniques or tools to create scrapbook layouts, projects, cards, tags or even embellishments.

A short time ago today, our darling MF Leslie was on FB Live in the BYSS community presenting an extra, exclusive, just-for-iNSD-at-BYSS kit and a sketch challenge. If you head over to the community, you can find the replay and see what she has to say about kit making and her take on the kit.

Bash Your Scrapbook Stash on Facebook here

But of course, we wanted to share the kit and our own creations with you here on our own blog too as our own {inter}National Scrapbook Day celebrations!

We picked out the June 2018 Studio Calico kit, "Expedition" and hope that you love it as much as we do! It's got some constellations (who might love that I wonder?!?), some travel items, a bunch of pretties and some lovely colours so what's not to love?

Studio Calico describe it as "Set out on an adventure – the world is yours to explore! You’ll have everything you need to record your travels when you return home. We’ve combined bright colors, organic elements, and an outdoorsy, vintage vibe for a look that will have you dreaming of your next “Expedition"".

That sounds like my kind of kit and the consensus among the team was that it was a winner!

But that's not all! We also have an EXCLUSIVE {inter}National Scrapbook Day sketch for you today, created by our wonderful  MF Susan. It's got so much to love with the full page design, the space for lots of journalling, the showcase photo and the oodles of room for interpretation.

Sketch credit: Master Forger Susan

This is the original page she made from which she made the sketch so I'm super curious to see the different interpretations on this design:

The ladies over at Bash Your Scrapbook Stash will also be offering two exclusive to their membership challenges so if you want more more more, then I recommend you head over there and join in the stash bashing activities!

And now I'd like to share with you what our team of talented Master Forgers have created with this exclusive {inter}National Scrapbook Day inspiration!

Susan pulled some 6x6 papers for her mini kit, basing her choices on the colors in the inspiration kit.

Then she turned her sketch upside-down, repositioned some of the elements, and translated it all to 12x12 to make this layout:

You can read all about her process on her blog here.

Julene put together this mini kit.

and with that mini kit she created this page with hand cut vellum circles.

The full details can be seen on her blog.

Cindy put together this kit along with a the DIY stripe paper, the details can be found here.

Lisa had stars in her eyes, promptly falling in love with the constellation paper in the original kit. Surprised? Not really! Therefore she built her own kit around a constellation designed paper by Crate Paper and then added in a few more papers that were inspired by the designs of the original and matched the starting paper colour wise.

The kit came together really easily from there and she goes through her process over on her blog.

There are two forgeries in her kit - the quote paper and the labels. Again, you can find more details over on her blog but they are super easy to make. As you can see, she designed the quote paper in Photoshop and then printed it out onto a simple paper which was cut down to 8.5" long (she only has a standard size printer. It's pretty close to the original!

The second forgery - the pile of labels - were fussy cut from sheets downloaded from the internet and printed out on heavy duty printer paper. That's a whole bunch of labels which will be so useful on this and many other kits.

She used the download on Kaitlin Staffer's blog here http://kaitlinsheaffer.com - go to the downloads page for a full array of fabulous labels in different colours. There are also may different downloads on Pinterest - just search for "printable labels" and be astounded at the results!

And even though she hasn't used Susan's wonderful sketch so far, the day is young so you never know!

Instead, she created this relatively simple page, inspired by that wonderful piece of constellation paper which triggered a long-forgotten memory! You can find out all the details relating to her kit, forgeries and this page over on her blog here.

Laura created this rather full kit based on the inspiration kit " I absolutely love the Studio Calico inspiration kit, and once i started pulling from my stash, i found it hard to stop! This kit is going to be good for so many layouts and i cannot wait to dig into it!"

Tina created a good size kit to play with this weekend, just fell in love with the inspiration kit and found some fun things in here stash for the kit:

and the layout she created using the sketch.

Leslie curated this kit which include a few forgeries - the large alphas, the "Shine" paper, and a Project Life card that imitates the ledger paper.

Her page is a 12x12" take on SuSan's sketch. Read more about it at her blog (link below) where she also shows some other paper combos she put together with alternate paper choices (that she forgot to show in the Facebook Live presentation over at BYSS.)

April 2018 - Counterfeit Kit Challenge Kit Reveal

Good Morning and Happy April to you all :) Tina here with you this month providing the inspiration for us to gather a kit for the month using our supplies from our stash :)
This month's inspiration comes from: Button Farm Club “Everyday Documented Page Kit April”

These kits are exclusively designed by Vicki Boutin for the Button Farm Club. I just loved this kit when I saw it, just has the colors of Spring and here in Pennsylvania we are so ready for Spring!

Close up of the kit:

The papers in the kit:

 The wood veneer

Ephemera: Lots of diecuts, tags, flowers in such pretty colours

Closeups

Word stickers and I can see stamps being used here on the kit too.

So that is your inspiration for this month. Now let me introduce you to our Guest Designer for the month, Annie Claxton.  Annie has been playing along with us since January 2014, counterfeiting kits of her own and participating in our monthly challenges.

Hi, my name is Annie Claxton, AKA Arty Farty Annie, and I am very excited to be a guest designer for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge this month. Like many of us, I have accumulated ridiculous amounts of crafty stash and I love how CKC gets me thinking outside of the box and rummaging through my drawers to use up all those pretty things!

I live with my husband John in a little cottage in Norfolk UK and I have two grown-up sons. I work full-time at the local hospital, but I spend as much time as I can “playing in my room”, where I love to dabble in all kinds of arts and crafts – favourites at the moment are scrapping, mixed media, bookmaking, miniatures and card-making.

Thanks so much to Master Forger Tina for inviting me over to play – my kit is all ready to go and I can’t wait to get started on this month’s challenges :o)

Welcome Annie :) We are so glad your here to play along with us this month!

Now it's time to see what Annie and the Master Forgers have come up with for this fun inspirational kit:

July 2017 Counterfeit Kit Reveal and Blog Hop

Welcome to the July Kit Reveal Blog Hop! We all at Counterfeit Kit Challenge are thrilled that you stopped in to see our new inspiration kit. This is Kelly and I am your guide to this month’s blog hop and challenges.

Lately I have found myself scrapbooking with a lot of pink. And while I LOVE pink, I decided I needed to freshen up my pages with some new color schemes. This month’s inspiration kit is just the ticket! It is the Walden Pond kit from August 2016 at Cocoa Daisy. This collection is jam-packed with bright yellows, blues, and greens—and a wonderful assortment of adorable embellishments!

I love the bold colors, interesting mix of patterns in the paper, and the unique embellishments in this collection. I hope you find plenty of inspiration from this kit--I know I did!

And now I want to introduce you to our July Guest Designer—Megan Blethen.

Hello Scrappy Friends!! Hi, I'm Megan, aka Crafty Meggy. I am a mom to three beautiful, crazy boys and a wife to one amazing husband. To keep my sanity in this house full of boys I scrapbook. I have been scrapbooking since I was a teenager, almost 20 years, and I love the creative outlet it gives me.

I am so excited to be the guest designer for Counterfeit Kit Club this month!! I have been making more kits from my stash in the last year and it is one of my favorite ways to use up my supplies.

The inspiration kit was so pretty and full of pieces from Paige Evans' first collection, 'Fancy Free' that I decided to pick a few papers from that collection to start my kit. It evolved from there and I love how it turned out! This first layout was so much fun to make and I think on of my favorites recently.

I hope that you'll have fun playing along with this kit this month and I look forward to making more layouts!

Megan is a wonderful scrapbooker and has a terrific YouTube channel. You can find her work on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. She blogs at Crafty Meggy.

February 2017 Counterfeit Kit Reveal

It's February, the month of love - and I think you are going to fall in love with this month's inspiration kit! This month, we're working with the January [Document] Life Stories Kit, 'Little Things In Life' from Scrapdelight.

Scrapdelight are a Dutch store, who have embraced the eclectic nature of modern memory-keeping, while retaining some of the special elements of traditional scrapbooking and each month, their [Document] Life Stories Kits come in four selections: Scrap Kit, Planner Kit, Pocket Pages Kit and Embellishment Kit.

But, one of the best things about the [Document] Life Stories Kits is that all of the elements which make up the kits - Papers, Cardstock, Stamps, Embellishments, Die-cuts; Labels, Journalling Cards - can be bought separately, meaning that customers can create their own customised kits! Just like we do here at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge!

Ready to check out the inspiration?

Let's have a closer look at those deliciously soft, whimsical patterned papers!

There's an added pop of colour in the cardstock!

Aren't the colours amazing? The softer colours are still fantastic for working on winter memories, but I love the little extra hit of sunshine yellow.

Now, as if that's not quite enough loveliness, there's also two stamps sets which co-ordinate with the kit and there are four add-on options for Journalling and Pocket Pages!

I think we have more than enough counterfeiting options, right?

Let's meet our Guest Designer, the lovely Lisa-Jane Johnson, and see her kit!

"Hi there, I'm Lisa-Jane and I live in the south of England in an old, tall house which we are busy renovating. I'm married to my best friend and I'm a mum of two middle school children. My little girl and I love to scrapbook, eat chocolate, get messy in our art journals and get organised in our planners.  Basically we just love cutting and sticking!"

You can catch up with Lisa-Jane on Instagram or Facebook.

"I started out with one sheet of gorgeous lavender flowers but I couldn't find anything else to go with it and everything else I had was very purple! I switched it for a pale pink and used some very old stash indeed!  I was so happy! I realised also that the navy and pink was very on trend and very similar to the Posh collection from Simple Stories so I pulled that out to use as an add on kit. In the end I had to use that quite separately because it has a slightly off white background and the rest of the main kit was very white."

Just look at all of the beautiful patterned papers, alphas and embellishments included in this counterfeit. Swoonsome!

But ... there's even more inspiration coming with the Master Forger's Main Kit Reveal Blog Hop.

Much love! Clair x
