Tutorial- Vintage Style Journal Cards

These pretty "vintage style" journal cards are in the "Juicy" Add-On Inspiration Kit.  While on a search for similar free vintage images I came across this wonderful blog called Far Far Hill.  This blog has 100's of free images available for download.

Free Journaling Block Downloads

I know lots of you might LOATH journaling on our layouts.  I personally love it!  I might not write a lot on every layout, but I try to get some "background" information for the pictures on the page.  I have to have an organized system for my journaling though, or else the memories will be forever lost.  I can't remember anything anymore if I don't write it down!!!  If you are interested in my system for easy journaling, feel free to see my blog post A Tip For Journaling On your Layouts.  I digress...

Counterfeit "Sassafrass Vintage Brooches" Tutorial

We have come up with a way to create "faux" vintage brooches using our existing supplies. 



Sassafrass Vintage Brooches

 The very simple process is...

1. Choose some paper or silk flowers from your existing supplies (or die cut a few).  They will work best if they are a few different sizes.  You will only need two or three layers for each "faux brooch".  But you can use as many layers as you would like.
2. Using a glue stick, cover the surface with glue.
3. Sprinkle UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) over the flowers. 
4. Using a heat embossing gun, melt the UTEE. (You may need to apply a few layers.)
4. When the flowers are still warm, you can "reshape" each petal to add a little dimension.
5. Attach the various layers together with a brad.

*CAUTION:  These get VERY hot when you are making them, you will probably want to hold them with a pair of tweezers until they are cool enough to touch.

The nice thing about the "faux" brooches is that they can lay nicely on a scrapbook page, without being too lumpy or dimentional.

Vintage Ephemera and Printable Vintage Bingo Cards

In order to find some vintage images for some of the "ephemera" used in my Inspiration Add-On Kit, I took advantage of the Internet and my printer!!!  To do this yourself, try doing a "Google Image" search for vintage advertisements, vintage postcards, or vintage ephemera.  You will get 1000's of results... simply right click on the image you like, save the picture to your computer, re-size it (if necessary) and print it onto cardstock! 

The EXACT bingo cards I printed (on white cardstock) are taken from a Flickr album created by Joy (autumnsensation).  She has generously shared a variety of vintage photos.  You can download the image by clicking on the link below...
