Challenge #3: Use an Idea Previously Saved

Queen Laura is back with our final challenge of the month...she has been keeping us hopping!

Challenge #3:  Use an idea previously saved!

Do you save ideas about scrapping on your phone?  Make a quick sketch of a layout in a notepad?  Do you pin magazine cut outs to a cork board or do this virtually on Pinterest?  If you do, like me, you'll have a stack of ideas saved for later, but when is later?  I often forget to go back and actually use these gems.  This challenge is to use an idea you have previously saved - be it a scribble on a scrap of paper or a like on Instagram.  Share the idea with us, too, so we can add it to our lists!

Do you think our DT has a list of ideas somewhere?  Let's see what they brought out to show us!

Lynnette was inspired by this pin from pinterest to make a border with her wood veneers.  Check out more on her blog here.

Margie was inspired by Wilna's Art and Design Class at Big Picture Classes, and this pin on Pinterest to create this page:

You can read more about it on her blog!

Wood Embellishments Tutorials

Wooden Embellishments are still all the trend going into 2013.  Many companies are producing these cute embellishments, but finding them can be tricky for some of us.

Here are some that I LOVE!

To recreate the cute Wooden Branch found in our inspiration kit this month, here are some ideas for you!

You can also:
1.  Use Chipboard and stamp wood grain on it or cover it with woodgrain paper
2.  Layer a die cut to get some thickness and use woodgrain paper/stamp for the top layer
3. fine some cute wooden shapes at a craft store
4.  Stamp on a posicle stick for some great word alternatives
5.  Buy some thin veneer sheets and use a punch or die cut machine to make shapes

Here are some great links for altering your wood embellishments:

Tutorial-Faux Leaf Buttons and Wooden Shapes

Favorite Findings- wood autumn leaves buttons
from Inspiration Kits

A few different ideas for counterfeiting these wooden embellishments.

Kaisercraft Wooden Leaf Flourishes- try cutting a leaf from fun foam with a Sizzix or Cuttlebug, then cut it again from wood grain paper, glue the two cuts together.

Favorite Findings Wooden Autumn Leaves Buttons- I punched 6 leaf shapes, glued them one on top of each other, coated the top leaf with Glossy Accents.  After the Glossy Accents dried, I punched 2 hole with my Crop-a-Dial to mimic the button holes.

My Faux Buttons
Faux Wooden Embellishments-Once again, Milissa created a tutorial.  It can be found here.
