Welcome to {i}NSD at The Counterfeit Kit Challenge!
Master Forger Misty here again. I'm back this hour with your next inspiration. You can take it as a challenge or as just a fun idea to tuck into your brain for potential crafting.
Layered flowers are popular on the market. In fact our inspiration kit this month features some! Be sure to go back to our kit reveal for May to get more info.
Here's the thing though: I like the flowers but I don't love the price tag. So I often make my own. Our team also made flowers for the Forgery on the Fourth project this month, so check them out for more flower love as well.
- Punch 11 circles. Here I used a 1" punch. 10 circles are for petals and 1 is for the base.
- Shape petals. I use a pencil and roll the circles around the pencil.
- Fold a small tab at the base of the petal. Apply glue and adhere to edge of base circle. Repeat around the entire circle with 5 petals. (Note: you can skip folding the little tab as long as you keep the glue to a small area and just adhere that tiny bit to the base.)
- Repeat a second layer of petals inside the first. I will pinch the glued spot with one had while I give more shape to the petal with the other hand.
- Decorate your flower center. Ideas: enamel dots, tiny "hole punched" circles, glitter glue, flock etc.
Now that we have the basic idea, lets mix it up a little. In the first photo I clipped off little wedges from each side of the circle to create more of a petal shape. You can see in the second photo how the first row of petals looks glued down. Don't worry about the gaps, the second row will fill that it. The third photo shows one more level of detail—I used my scissors to give the circle edge a ruffled look. Definitely more petal-like.
