February 2025 - Challenge #3 Let's Get Sketchy

   

It is sketch time for February. Before we dive into the sketch, remember that this is the inspiration we are working from this month.

Kitaholic Kits' May 2024 kit

With this kit in mind I created a sketch specifically for February. I wanted to focus on the geometrical shapes seen in some of the supplies. So here is the sketch playing with triangles!

Sheryle said she enjoyed working with the triangles.

Master Forger Ryann

Ryann is still working on the album from when she was dating her husband. She used some Recollections Journal Card Pads and fussy cut the little banners on the right.Then she used a CM Border Maker Cartridge to make the rest of the banners for her page. The wood veneer title over some scraps she had in her kit helped them stand out.

Master Forger Christine

I decided to flip the sketch vertically as I saw "mountains" when I looked at the triangles.  And this was perfect for documenting my daughter's recent trip and her going out onto Devil's Bridge!

And rather than banners, I used stars to "drape" across the layout.  This was so fun!!

August 2024 - Challenge #4 - Baby Use Those Scraps!

Master Forger Jody here! Today is our final challenge using our August kits! Our final challenge is  always "Baby Use Those Scraps". Before we get started, let's take a look at our Inspiration Kit:  Bee-utiful Day Kit by Jennifer Ferh from sweetshoppedesigns.com

 

 

Our fabulous guest designer, Sarah Rouault made super cute cards with her scraps! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining us this month! You are an amazing paper crafter!

Now let's see what our Master Forgers have created for you using scraps from their kits!

Master Forger Ryann says she usually does this challenge with all the little bits and pieces that are laying around her desk, but this month, her kit was so big, she had a lot of half sheets and cut out papers.  She challenged herself to find a way to use up some of those this time, instead!  

Here are some of the leftover pieces of paper and the ends of some stickers.  She also included some embellishments she thought would tie it together.  That black and white sheet was partially used when she put it in her kit, and the circle was cut out for one of her layouts this month.  

 

She ended up layering several pieces together to make a 12x12 base, then created her layout from there.  The scalloped circle helped to cover some of the cut up sections of the other papers, and that's been in her stash for a long time!

Hey @floppyearedfarm sharing how I used my August scraps! I have been working on a snap album of our Summer trip and wanted to use up some of these cut apart cards! I also used some of the pattern paper I printed. It feels so good to use all the things!!!   Well, that's a wrap for me this month. August 2024 - Challenge #2 Black and Yellow Background

It's time for challenge #2. This month's Inspiration kit was full of contrast. I want you to create your own black and yellow background paper to use on a project.   I hope I see some mixed media!!!

Guest Designer - Sarah Rouault got a little messy with her background paper and I love it! Here is her project!

Sarah used washi tape and black paint to create her bright and bold stripes! Such a beautiful layout!

Now, let's see what our Master Forgers created:  

Master Forger JoJo

JoJo created this background by using a yellow gold textured paste through a hexagon

stencil on a black cardstock paper. Then she applied 3 strips of washi tape and lots of 

cute embellishments to show case her bee photos.

Master Forger Christine

Christine took a different turn and used stamps. She may have been a bit daintier than a full mixed media background, but made up for it by using some black and white papers on a yellow background.  Does her entry qualify??

August 2024 - Challenge #1 Woodgrain and Florals

Master Forger Jody here with the first challenge of the month. But first let's take a quick look at our inspiration kit - Bee-utiful Day Kit by Jennifer Ferh from sweetshoppedesigns.com.

 

 

For Challenge #1 I would love for you to create a project using woodgrain and florals. Yup! That is it! I hope to see some out of the box creations.

Master Forger Ryann had this very old black and white 8x10 her mom had given her from when she was little.  She cut the photo down to remove the old damaged corners, and this is what she came up with.  What a fun challenge!

I was really excited for this challenge. Who doesn’t love wood grain and florals! The yellows and oranges in this month’s inspiration kit gave me that Fall vibe. With that in mind this is was I created.

Master Forger Tara created this layout featuring a selfie she took before church one Sunday morning!
