June 2026 - Baby, Use Those Scraps!

 It is the final challenge of the month!
Before we dive in, here is a reminder peek at our kit.

Master Forger Tina

Just a few scraps as Tina has not played with her kit as much as she would have liked. But with the scraps she had she created some pennants for a fun foodie layout 

 

Master Forger Ryann

 used a lot of the leftover pieces of her kit to punch stars for this layout.  The punch she used gives an outside and inside star, so she used both pieces to create some "magic" elements for her layout.

The layout used the base page she counterfeited at the beginning of the month, as well as the counterfeit circle border she made.  She added a few of the stars onto the border, then layered the stars onto the page, and put all the center stars on foam squares.  She added the smallest bling she could find from her kit to add that "magical" feeling.  The title background paper is also a scrap she cut from one of her leftover papers as well.

 

And that, my friends, is a wrap!!!  I hope you have had as much fun as the rest of us have!

April 2026 -Let's use those scraps.

 By now you might have used most of your kit and might have left over bits and pieces. This post gives you some ideas to use the leftover bits and pieces.

First a refresher on the kit we counterfeited this month.

Tara and I have some ideas you can copy or adapt to suit your needs.

Master Forger Tara

I am starting out with very few scraps since I didn't come even close to bashing my kit this month!  I am in the season of military moving and have been a little busier than normal.  Here's the photo of what I am starting with:

 

I will still have a few of the scraps left after I complete my layout for this challenge.  

 

 

For this layout, I kept the two larger triangles intact and used them to create a focal point for my photo.  I also stitched on them.  The photo is popped up on fun foam.  I used the fussy cut florals from my kit as well as the foam title and hearts that are also in my kit!  Check out the detail shots below:

 

 

 

Master Forger Julene

At this point the first thing I do is put all my offcuts in a pile.

If there are any whole sheets of paper left, they become your base.

Look for photo or photos that match the things that are left. (colour or theme)

Sometimes it could be a large embellishment or journal block you want to get out of the way.

From a previous month I had these

I managed a layout using squares cut from those pieces.

From this month I only had a few embellishments and some white card. I used wet teabag and wiped over the white card. I then cut it into tag shapes.

 

 

Next, I made tags using my embellishments I had

 

These will be used on cards or future layouts. Here's 2 cards I just made

September 2025 - Challenge #4 Baby, Use Those Scraps!

 

Hello!  Today is the last day of the month and time for our final challenge.  Have you been saving all those tiny pieces of leftovers throughout the month?  Now is the chance to use them up!  It's our Scraps Challenge.  Create a project using the scraps from your kits.  Remember, it doesn't have to be a 12x12 layout.  It can be a card or even a spread in a traveler's notebook.

 Let's take a final look at our inspiration kit, Life Captured by Simple Stories.

Our Master Forgers came up with great ways to use those scraps!

Master Forger Julene

Here is what I had left.

I managed to make 2 cards.

I purposely made a small kit and finished well before the end of the month.

Master Forger Ryann

This was a fun kit to work with, and I'm glad I had just the right pieces to put together for this layout of my granddaughter enjoying the neighbor's flowers.  She was really good about not picking any of the flowers, but she sure was taking in all the colors and flowers from every angle!  I used a punch to make some flowers at the top of the page, the last bits of some hearts in the centers on foam tape, and some bow stickers I had put in there.  The title card "Life" was in my stash for about 15 years, so yay for getting that used up!  The acrylic letters "flowers" were in my stash longer, I think!  I used some paint pens to make grass on those, and the gem/bling I've had for about a year.  I love a scraps challenge for getting rid of old stragglers in my stash!

August 2025 - Challenge #4 Baby Use Those Scraps!

 Oh wow! Can you believe it! We're at the end of the month already, and it's time for our final challenge using our August kits! Let me remind you one last time of our inspiration kit:

 Our final challenge is always a challenge to use the leftovers from your kit, in other words....scraps! Use your imagine and see if you can squeeze one more layout from those scraps. Not enough paper? Then make a card, or even some embellishments.We can always use more embellishments. Let your creativity shine and show use what you create. Now, let's see what our Master Forgers created using their scraps.

MF Ryann

 Master Forger Ryann had a ton of fun using up some of her scraps for this layout of her with Master Forger Tara on her birthday - the strips behind the photo were so short she cut them in half and put them on either side. The flowers up top are just strips of paper  she tore and mangled and rolled into little flowers for the layout. She layered them over some white crystal drops flowers she drew, and a floral tree in bloom die cut. Foam dots hold up her hummingbird and the table and chairs at the bottom.

MF Christine

 Confession time; I did not have a TON of scraps, really.  And the ones I had were fairly large.  But hey, scraps are scraps, right??  I used an older sketch and made it work with the papers I had left.  I did use up pretty much the last of my ephemera, all the green leaves from my little flower kit, and most enamel dots from one sheet.  Overall, I'm very pleased with how much of this month's kit I was able to bash!

MF Tina 

Lots of scraps used and still have lots of papers from this kit yet to play with :) Other than the base page the rest are scraps including the word art from a cutapart sheet.

May 2025 - Challenge #4 Baby Use Those Scraps

 Hello! Master Forger Christine here with our final challenge for the month of January.   We always like to finish out the month with the Scraps Challenge.  Use the scraps you've accumulated this month on your project.  I’m always impressed with what can be accomplished using just scraps!

Master Forger Julene had only small scraps.

She used them by cutting squares and making this layout.

Master Forger Misty

She used her scraps to create a collaged foundation to her photo on her 12x12 layout. In addition she used more scraps to create 5x7 photo pockets for extra photos.

Master Forger Cindy:

I have three layouts with different scrap pieces, paper and embellishments. I added in 12x12 paper for the backgrounds.

I want to thank our Guest Designer and my sweet friend Kathy McElfresh for sharing her talents with us this month.

April 2025 - Challenge #4 - Baby, Use Those Scraps

  Welcome back to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog! As a reminder, this month's inspiration kit is lil' man by Bella Gypsy!

We have just one final challenge for you for the month of April! As always, our team is sharing a few ideas with using up the scraps left in your monthly kit. Let's see what they've got this time!

Master Forger Brandi 

Creating with my scraps is an all-month-long endeavor for me! I always try to use up what I've already cut into as I create layouts throughout the month. I snuck in quite a few little bits as layering pieces on this one. The only "new" paper on the page is the grey background! 

Master Forger Misty

I honestly didn't have many scraps. Instead I turned to the 6x6 papers I included in my kit. They are about the same size as scraps left over from cutting down 12x12 anyway! So, my "scraps" and a circle punch and I have a bit of a flowy background for my story.
